What kind of car gets “turned off” if you don’t make the payment? She drove there but her car was turned off after she got there and unable to drive? I don’t know a lot about cars, I didn’t know that was even possible.

My best guess would be a service such as OnStar maybe?

OnStar doesn't render the vehicle unable to drive though. The "car being shut off" part of the story just sounds fishy to me. I've never heard of a Honda that can be shut off by a bank because a payment wasn't made that month.

Another thought would be a "buy here, pay here" type place. After a quick Google search it appears many of those businesses do add a "kill switch" to the vehicle in case a payment is not made.

The initial reports were that she was in her brother in law's Dodge Journey when she went to the store.

I know, I was following this case closely. I just commented since she made the trip to FL in her Honda that was shut off due to non payment, she must not have the BMW.
