Perhaps the two phones that were left behind were discarded pay as you go phones?

I only heard or rather read recently, that they found two phones. First it was reported they found her phone at the house. Now it turned out she had two phones, which isn't that strange. But to leave them both at the house, while supposedly being away that long is a strange detail for me.

The boyfriend never saw her again after he left early in the morning for work. If you are arriving home from work in the afternoon or early evening. You would find out that her phone(s) are right there. So were could she be? You at least would call her work or a close friend to check her whereabouts, right? But espically by midnight you would know something is up.

Her dad had no contact with her for a number of days (he did not know she already was missing ofcourse). But especially grew concerned after she didn't contact him on father's day. Last contact was on the 18th.

I have said this before within this thread. Those phones are there the whole time after friday, lets say after the attempted Facebook call right after 10 a.m. Her dad called and texted that whole weekend and probably her sister too. And I imagine close friends or friends also.
You are telling me that her boyfriend had no initiative on saturday morning or saturday evening, to at least tell her dad and/or sister her phones were right here and that he hasn't seen her since he left for work friday at 6 a.m.

That could also mean this was a reason for her to go looking for another appartment. But these contradicting statements do not help.

Also, she thus had none of her multiple phones in her possession when she left the house??? I am not buying that.
That's right, if Lauren were using again - hook-ups are important. She would never leave her cell phone at home, IMO. I'm not saying Lauren was using again, just speculating.

Her purse is found in the park, but her cell phone is in the apartment, that makes no sense? If anything one of the two phones may be an old phone, but from the beginning it was said her phone was at home, so I don't think they are both unused phones.

Did anyone see or talk to Lauren the night before she disappeared? Do we only have bf's word that she was in the apartment that night until he left early that morning?

I agree, phones left at home are always a huge red flag to me, and I can't stop thinking about her orange nails that were found outside her house.. did part of a confrontation happen as she was coming home or trying to leave?
from the onset, I cannot shake domestic/breakup violence.
I cannot see anyone bringing their purse out with them but no phones.

Not sure but there was the handyman that stated he saw her & they waved at each other the morning she was last seen.

Thank you, so Lauren's boyfriend was not the last person to see her on June 19th, as it's been stated he left for work around 6 am that morning. There is an unnamed witness. I forgot he said he saw Lauren that morning. I'm not accusing, but I hope this man was checked out.

A man we saw talking to police didn’t want to be interviewed on the record but told us that the day before, Lauren asked him about available apartments, saying she “wanted to get out of the situation she was in.”

He said he again saw her the next day, on June 19, around 8 a.m. and waved at her as she was walking along the route from the park to her apartment.

This is the part of the timeline that I find odd. At 6:00am she was at home per the boyfriend. At 8:00am she was seen walking FROM the park in the direction of the apartment. After the boyfriend left, she went to the park, or somewhere in that direction, and then headed home? Who goes to the park between 6:00-8:00am? Does the community center camera show her there? Watching the sunrise? Meeting someone? Anyone else that routinely goes to the park, see her there that morning?

He said he again saw her the next day, on June 19, around 8 a.m. and waved at her as she was walking along the route from the park to her apartment.

I agree it’s pretty early. Maybe she went to meditate? Idk, just thinking aloud.

The park is right there, correct? Meaning how long of a walk is it from her apartment to the park?

Or maybe she was just heading to the park at 8AM but had gotten only part way there and realized she forgot something and turned around to go back to the apartment to get it.

Do we know if LD had an active cell phone service? If not, she may have been using the phones only thru a wifi connection. If that were the case, it may be more understandable that she may have only taken a phone with her when she expected to have wifi service. Would there have been wifi service at the park?
Also, I believe it was stated that there was evidence that someone had attempted to contact GP from LD's phone while he was at work later that morning sometime. Do we know if that was a cell phone call that was placed? Or could it have been an instant message of some sort via a social media site? Or perhaps even a FaceTime or video chat message (which could have been done without actual cell service). Or some sort of VoiP call done over wifi?

I love this park. I come here to let my son run around while I catch up on some work as there is free wifi. The small beach is nice and peaceful. There are very friendly squirrels that want you to share your food, my son loves them. Clean bathrooms that belong to the school.

Good info here! Thanks @Knox!
Unfortunately though that - along with @mlhenn confirming that the call to GP was a FB "call" - just leaves me with a LOT more questions.

How do cell phones work?

A cell phone uses two channels, one to send and one to receive. However, current cell phones also have a Bluetooth radio and a wifi radio. It should be noted that with current cell phones wifi can be used to make a phone call. With a wifi call there is NO LOCATION INFORMATION. In other words, a call made using wifi will not ping a cell phone tower.

If Lauren was only on WiFi there will be no location pings.

Thank you great info. One question though - no location, got it. But could you identify the Wifi ISP? My point; if the ISP at Freedom Park is AT&T, but the ISP at someone's work is CitLink, would that tell us something?

I'm no expert on this sort of thing and wouldn't be able to say whether the unique ISP info would tell much. I think though that a good network tech might be able to go thru router logs and determine whether her phone connected to a given router/network *if* logging was enabled and that log info were still available. But they would need to know the identifying info for the phone(s)/devices she might have been using. So they might have been able to check for the phones they might be aware that LD has - but I'm not sure we can guarantee that ahe might not have more. I know it seems weird to some for a person to have multiple phones but I bet I have at least 4 or 5 unused old phones laying around the house that we discontinued using after upgrading someone's phone. (Apparently I'm bad at recycling those.)

Yeah, I think that would work. Any location that provides WiFi can access info about the devices that have connected to that WiFi. So, seems to me they could check WiFi spots to see if Lauren’s phone used their WiFi. That may give a location and possibly a time depending on what those logs show. It would be good to know the place and time that last FB call on that phone was made. Anybody know if your phone shows and stores what WiFi your phone has used?

I think there is an even better option. The Facebook app has its own map, its within the Market Place. It also works on GPS, so even without WiFi you can get a map up and running. If I am correct those data points get saved all the time (for advertisement purposes within the Market Place).

Now for WiFi there are different ways to trace back those data points (location). Every app has permissions, so if you accept roaming and cellular data. Through there information is saved.
The roaming and cellular data also occur within the mobile network itself, so the 3G/4G network of your provider.

I guess if any of that were possible and it was a viable lead, the detective or family would have said so?

The router log might have "Lauren's phone" in it but what often happens is it reuses the address and doesn't change the name. So you can never be 100% sure it was exactly the same device.
