So I wish we could stop taking SR at face value on that. Both child and mother looked clean and well kept, and I think SR is a con-man who is assassinating Leila's character. Yes, she has some problems. She's missing, and she shouldn't be. She should be with her child. MOO
BBM - Amen to that! I was not even able to watch the entire video of him going off on LC and trying to trash her. MOO was I can't even listen to this psycho. Who would trash someone who is missing, other than a narcissist?

“He said she asked him to wire her $50 on July 23, because she said Kamdyn needed to go to the dentist. West said he wired $60 to the Dawsonville Walmart. From the Walmart, Cavett recorded Kamdyn and shared the video. That video of Kamdyn being pushed in the cart is now circulating widely on social media.”

“Cavett wasn’t known to have money. West, who wired her the $60, now questions if she even took Kamdyn to the dentist with the money, and Cavett’s uncle gave her $40 just days before she and her little boy hopped into an old extended cab Chevrolet truck and pushed their way south from North Georgia.

On July 24, surveillance video put her at a Cracker Barrel in Vero Beach.”
——-
So she got $60 from DW and $40 from her uncle and was in FL the next day.
How did she get the truck?
SR said he had gotten Leila a car when she was staying with him in AL and that she had traded it sometime for the truck.

IDK if we can believe any of that or not.

I'm pretty sure she already had the truck before she went on the trip to Florida. Didn't she get it from her Uncle? I thought he said she bought it or traded it.

I also remember a post on her FB page that she was selling a car and needed a vehicle that she could fit a lot of stuff in. Maybe that's how she got money to buy the truck? Imo

Broward County Jail records viewed by Law&Crime do state that he is being held for the U.S. Marshals Office, but Michelle Coghill, Deputy Chief for the Office of Public Affairs at the U.S. Marshals Service, told Law&Crime over the phone that they did not arrest the defendant, and she recommended we reach out elsewhere, likely the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The FBI, which recently spearheaded efforts to find Cavett, isn’t talking, however. Special Agent Michael D. Leverock declined to comment when Law&Crime reaching him over email.

The Hollywood Police Department, the local agency previously in charge of the search, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Ryan is being held without bond on two counts of lying to a federal officer. Online federal records don’t detail his case, and neither do Broward County records, so it is unclear if he has an attorney in this matter.

Agreed. In the surveillance photos, which show a person as they’re out and about in real life, as opposed to staged social media posts, she looks well groomed and clean and appropriately attired as does her little boy.

I’m going with the witch doctor is a liar with a reason for making mom out to be a neglectful parent. Three head injuries? Please.

I'm with you on this and actually I think people shouldn't be bad mouthing her at all. She never asked for whatever has happened to her.

IMO, now that SR has actually been arrested for lying to the Feds of all people, nothing he (SR) has said, past or present, is to be believed. On top of that he is an admitted thief and drug dealer and drug user. He's been to actual prison for over a decade for those things. NOTHING he says about Leila or Kam is to be believed.

So has he been arrested for lying to federal agents or arrested for lying to federal agents regarding LC's disappearance - I don't understand US law and in my mind there is a difference - am I wrong?

I find it weird that one source says he is being held for the US Marshalls while the US Marshalls say they don't know what we're talking about and have nothing to do with it thus referring everything back to the FBI which says that Broward County is in charge. Is this just the traditional run around to avoid making an official statement or are they really just as confused as we are about what exactly is going on? I'm not understanding what the deal is here.

People who use dating sites do not deserve to go missing. People who are estranged from their families do not deserve to go missing. People who are arrested do not deserve to go missing. People who move, even often and because they are young and poor do not deserve to go missing.

ITA!

It depends on who sought who; and we don’t know yet. Leila’s life was a series of moves in the last 2 years; with a distanced relationship with her immediate family prior to this incident. This has been documented by MSM. She wasn’t a Girl Scout, but it seems she loved the child. IMO
Well, going by what SR said in his video, he told her to drive the truck to Florida to prove that it ran. He said she told him she didn't want to sell her truck but somehow she ended up agreeing to it and also to work for him in the Everglades.

I'm not sure why he needed to buy the truck in the first place. If he needed it for the Everglades and she was going to be with him anyway then why not just borrow the truck? Why spend $3000 on an old truck with a problem with the gas line? And without checking the title first?

I really don't know what to believe. I do think he may have persuaded her to come and work for him as an "apprentice" or in some capacity. It seems as if he can be very convincing to someone who is naive and vulnerable.

Imo

Lying to a federal agent is a crime in the USA.

Thanks - I just wanted to know if there was a difference between the 2 - I assume its like perjury sort of? There are things I wanted to bring up for discussion but as his arrest appears to be a little vague between US Marshals/FBI/Local LE I wont just yet in case I break ToS.

You are not wrong. There is a difference. All we can discern at this point is that he allegedly lied to federal officers about something. We don't know what that something is. Could be related to Leila, could be related to something else entirely. They have not yet said what the alleged lies are related to. At this point people, including MSM are assuming it has to do with Leila.

It is hard to know everything since there are only few details. But he was charged with 2 counts of lying to a federal officer. And that is a chargeable crime. The interesting part is he is being held with no bail for now.

No, it's not related to perjury. That is an entirely different statute.

The "Hold for US Marshals" can be confusing. When a federal warrant is issued, any LE can pick the person up and take them to jail on the warrant. It doesn't have to be the Marshals or the FBI. Local LE could have picked him up on the warrant.

There are no federal "jails" in the US system, only prisons. The feds contract with certain jails to hold their inmates while awaiting adjudication and the feds pay for that service. If the local jail that picks the person up is not a jail under contract, they will hold that inmate until the Marshal's pick them up and transfer them to jail that has a contract with the feds.

Thanks for explaining - it's much appreciated :)
