The Leon County Sheriff's Office is investigating after skeletal human remains were discovered in a rural part of Leon County.
Saturday afternoon, about 4 p.m., deputies with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Apalachicola National Forest near Smith Creek Highway in reference to skeletal remains found in the area.
The remains were determined to be human. Detectives with LCSO’s Violent Crimes unit were called in to take over the investigation.
The incident is currently under investigation.
