A new federal grant is giving a new boost to unsolved murder cases in Clearwater.
The money will be used to pay for DNA to be processed. In some cases it will pay for detectives to travel and interview witnesses who have moved out of state.

She hopes federal grant money approved by the Clearwater City Council will be the turning point to solve the case. The $30,000 will pay for DNA processing for any of the 25 unsolved murders Clearwater Police are still working.
Dash Wade hopes that not only means help for her brothers case but also their mothers.
Margaret Dash is on the polices unsolved board after going missing in Clearwater 40 years ago.

"Their case, just because it's a few years old, is just as important to us as the case we get last night," he said. He has people of interest for the murder of Leon Dash Jr.
Dash Wade believes so many people watched her brother's death that it can be easily solved by a new witness coming forward.

In their mother's disappearance, Clearwater Police found her car 40 years ago. They have not been able to find many witnesses. The grant might help with DNA testing in that case.
