If it is a bacteria, can it not be cured with antibiotics? Once a lesion shows, it should be cultured and most, not all, bacteria show themselves in 48-72 hours. There are a few however, that can take several weeks. But you could start a good broad-spectrum antibiotic and then change it when you get results that show the best med(s) to fight it. Guess we have to gown, glove, and mask or call animal control for dead armadillos in the middle of the road! The usual shovel and plastic bag won't cut it anymore!!

It can be cured with antibiotics, but many bacterail diseases are becoming antibiotic resistance due to overuse of antibiotics.
