The Gadsden County Sheriffs Office is asking for your help in locating 87-year-old Leroy Banks.

Deputies say Banks left his home in the St. Hebron Community at around 3 p.m. Monday. Family and friends have not heard from him since.

Deputies say he was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, an orange beanie hat and tan pants. He has gray hair, a slender build and brown eyes. Authorities also say Banks suffers from dementia.

Dementia is so cruel to both the sufferers and their entire family. Prayers tonight for this man...he looks like a happy fella.

Thankfully if he is outside it looks like the weather is fairly temperate now and in the next few days.

Search in Gadsden Co. continues for missing elderly man with dementia

The family says Banks' sister dropped him off at his home Monday, then one of his brothers later drove by and noticed him outside.

When the nephew who takes care of him came up from the backyard, he discovered Banks was gone, according to the family.

One of Banks' brothers says Banks has some good days and bad days when it comes to his dementia. He says he's known to wander off, but says someone in the community always brought him back home quickly.

Also, Officials say it's good to look for dementia patients where they grew up.

Unidentified human remains found a few miles away from where he disappeared: Community searching for closure after discovery of remains in Gadsden County

[...]

While investigators still don't know who that person is, people in the neighborhood have some ideas.

ABC 27 has learned those remains were found near the same place where an older man disappeared in October.

People who live here believe those remains could be 81-year-old Leroy Banks. Banks, who has dementia, lived just a few miles away and disappeared more than a month and a half ago.

[...]

The FDLE has been called in to help investigate. The sheriff's office says it will take a while studying the bones to figure out if more people were involved and if it's a criminal investigation.

Community searching for closure after discovery of remains in Gadsden County

Deputies say hunters were out in the woods near Robinson Drive when they came across bones.
Investigators are now studying the bones to figure out the age and sex of that person.
To give you an idea of just how difficult the investigation is, the deputy we talked to doesn't even know the condition of the bones yet because of how deep into the woods it is.

Human remains found in St. Hebron area, Gadsden Co. deputies say

Confused. Numb. Helpless." Said, Pam, a Gadsden County resident who wants to go by only her first name.
She's going through emotions as she waits to hear if her uncle's body was found.

"If it is Uncle Leroy. The Lord has been good to this family this day because closure is what we need. It's what they need."

Pam says she'd been searching for Banks since that late October day he went missing. "I've been in these woods in and out of these woods every day. Was told not to go in these woods, but I'd go down there by myself because something kept telling me to go, go, go." She said.

FDLE is assisting in the investigation.

LT. Anglie Hightower with the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office said, "There are other examiners with anthropologists along with the bones and remains and they'll put it together."

The investigation into this discovery is ongoing. Authorities can't say when they'll be able to make a positive I.D. or confirm a cause of death.

I am still unable to find an update on the remains that were found in Dec 2019 that may be that of Mr Leroy Banks. Maybe another WS member will have better luck finding one!
8 months seemed like an awfully long time not to hear confirmation on human remains. MOO

No doubt Covid-19 has this ID delayed. The remains were found right before the pandemic hit, although it wasn’t widely known at the time.
