Florida man, 32, lied about being robbed at gunpoint to avoid his 11am shift at Hardee's | Daily Mail Online

Authorities say a Florida man didn't want to show up for his shift at a Hardee's restaurant, so he called 911 and reported he'd just been robbed.

Brian Anderson, 32, of Dundee told dispatchers Tuesday that two gun-carrying men took his necklace, money and his phone before jumping into a black Ford Crown and driving away.

Polk County sheriff's deputies went to the scene, bring air and K-9 support with them.

But deputies quickly realized that a robbery never happened.

In a Facebook post, the agency said Anderson confessed, adding that 'on the bright side, Brian didn't have to go to his 11 a.m. shift at the restaurant.'

The office shared a silly meme poking fun at Anderson's story, showing a deputy telling the man 'Please stop, Brian. My brain hurts.'

Polk County Sheriff's Office

Brian of Dundee called 911 to report an armed robbery. Two unknown suspects took his money, his necklace, and his cellphone. They threw the phone on the ground, jumped into a black Ford Crown Victoria and sped away. Deputies quickly responded, along with Air and K-9.

That’s a heck of a story, eh?

Well, aside from the very first and very last sentence, none of that was true.

Deputies quickly learned that the robbery never happened, and Brian confessed that he made up the story because…you’d better sitting down for this…because he didn’t want to show up for his 11:00 a.m. shift at the restaurant where he works.

Brian was arrested and charged with Misuse of 911 and Knowingly Giving False Information to Law Enforcement.

On the bright side, Brian didn’t have to go to his 11:00 a.m. shift at the restaurant.

As someone who lives in Scotland it always amazes me how many of these crazy stories occur in the state of Florida it is baffling.

Hilarious! Brian might as well move outta that town. If he wants to work again, that is.

The one important lesson I learned from this story is that Hardee's must be a lousy place to work at.

I never hated any job THAT much.

How you know it's time to switch jobs: when the thought of being robbed at gunpoint is less stressful than showing up for work.

I hope Brian finds a high-salaried job so he can pay for the air and K-9 searches. Good luck with that, Brian!

Or, possibly, Brian is just a lousy employee. ;)

I love this thread! We all need to laugh now and then.

Maybe Brian could pay off his charges with community service, lol.
