Missing Boynton Beach man found safe

The Boynton Beach Police Department said they have found a missing and endangered 71-year-old man who suffers from dementia.

Police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater said George Martin fled from an assisted living facility Monday morning.

In a tweet at 9 a.m., police said he "just walked back to the facility where he's been living."

Slater said Martin smashed a window in his first-floor room, climbed out and took off running from the Parkside Inn, located on Southwest Third Street, just after 6 a.m. Staff members chased after him, but he outran them.

Slater said Martin previously fled from another assisted living facility in Palm Beach County and took a bus to Seattle.

George was found safe the same day!!

He sure has a lot of pep in his step to outrun everyone.

My goodness- this made me chuckle, even though George sure caused a ruckus. I do hope he can be happy and stay put from now on :)

There was video of him returning. The reporter was filming a segment about him breaking a window and climbing out to go on the run. When, all of a sudden he just comes waltzing back home. The police were all there standing around. The reporter points him out to the police. They get him back in the house safe and sound.
I keep thinking about him "out-running" everyone! :D I am hoping he finds some other way to get excitement in his life, so he can stay put from now on.

Wow, glad he had a first floor room. This could've been a tragedy... Bless his heart, sounds like he was never the type to sit still and still isn't :)
