Fort Myers Police Department was actively searching with K9 unit dogs Monday for a missing woman who has dementia.

“We know she’s a fighter, and she’s going to be back home to us,” daughter EB said. “We are hopeful she will come back home.”

EB says her mother disappeared a separate time couple weeks ago, but this time is different.

“She was able to come back on her own,” EB said. “She went around the block. She came back on her own. It lasted two to three hours.”

Her family is posting on social media which is such a good sign. So many missing don't have anyone getting the word out.

There is a lot of water in that area. I wonder if she is so disoriented at this point that she would wade into a retention pond.

If she was still wandering at daylight, maybe a camera picked her up.

Maria is a Hispanic female weighing approximately 155 lbs and is 5'06" in height. Maria has brown eyes and blonde/gray hair. Maria was last seen wearing a light green/blue sweater with a white shirt underneath, gray sweat pants, and black Croc style shoes.

Details of Disappearance
Espinal was at on New York Avenue in Fort Myers, Florida on December 13, 2020. She got into a verbal argument at 12:31 a.m., then left the residence on foot. She was last seen walking on Luckett Road east of Ortiz Avenue. Her family stated she had left before but would always come back on her own within a few hours. This time, she was never heard from again.

An extensive search turned up no indication of Espinal's whereabouts. Her case remains unsolved.

Now, Fort Myers police are highlighting the case of the disappearance of 65-year-old Maria Espinal, she was last spotted on County Lakes Drive in Fort Myers. Espinal suffers from dementia.

Espinal’s family, including her daughter Jessica, are feeling the pain of not know where she is.

Jessica said investigators have no new leads that might help them find their missing mom.
