On July 27, 1976, at approximately 10:12AM, the skeletal remains of 17 year old Marilyn Elizabeth McKenzia were discovered in a wooded lot off of Jackson Street in Wildwood, Florida. She was possibly last seen in the Wildwood area getting into a 1970's model blue and white Buick Electra 225 with two unknown black males. McKenzia had left Pennsylvania in November of 1975 to pick apples and later traveled with the seasonal farm laborers picking watermelons between Immokalee, Florida and Wildwood, Florida. Marilyn McKenzia's cause of death was determined to be a homicide and it is suspected that she was physically beaten just prior to her death. It was estimated that McKenzia had been killed approximately two months prior to the discovery of her body.
