He previously pulled a gun on someone during a road rage fit. But some act like he was some sweet pastor that was simply standing his ground. Lol..

Can someone alert those posters from the other closed thread that was praising LE decision at first. Hmmmm

I don't think they'll get a conviction. But, it hopefully will result in changes to the law.

Though I agree that Florida's SYG law is badly flawed (the Texas variant says specifically that one cannot provoke or incite the other party. Nor can one be in violation of any law at the time), I don't think the law will change unless..... the GOP in Florida perceives that failing to do so will cost them the governorship or the state legislature.

That aside, I think there is hope for a conviction. The "Pop corn shooter" is going to trial. Sure, "Z man" was acquitted, but he had the advantage of being the first widely publicized case sans video and sans witnesses to the complete occurrence.

Thus my hope is that Floridians simply gave him the benefit of the doubt as an individual. They might not be willing to extend that to the next one, and the following one etc. Public opinion can be fickle, as I hope D finds out.

I doubt there will be a conviction. The case may never go to trial. There will be many legal maneuvers. Waiting for the Motion to Dismiss.

Shooter charged with manslaughter in Clearwater stand your ground case

State legislators revised the law last year to put the onus on prosecutors to disprove a stand your ground claim instead of on defense attorneys to prove one. That would be hashed out at a pre-trial immunity hearing.
But first, Drejka, who could face up to 30 years in prison, would have to file a motion to dismiss the charge under a stand your ground defense.

Thread is closed for review. Way off topic posts and insulting each other. Once again, we can't have a discussion about current events without people losing their minds.

Bumping Tricia's post.
