Then he just said that the killing of the voice star happened two nights ago

Go back .....................to your office..... why doesnt the media correct him.

That sound bite will get replayed with totally wrong basic facts ,

Get your basic info correct before you go running to the mike.....come on guys

Sure, people can die from a shot in the leg but chances are they won't. When the kill rate is extremely high "chance" no longer plays a part in the fatality rate, someone put a lot of effort into it and that takes time. If there isn't a lot of time it takes multiple shooters.

Or a well executed crime by a well trained marksman. Imo, OM is/was a well trained ISIS jihadist lone wolf on a well planned mission; the deadliest terror attack since 09/11/2001...50+ casualties & 53 injured, many in grave/critical condition..

I heard that too - I had to think about it - but to me it seemed they meant he did that while he was in the club - because they also said that he was speaking in a foreign language - so I took it as a type of recount as to what he did while he was inside.

Why aren't all "hate crimes" considered terrorist acts then?

One of the women on the news made a great point. Parents all across this Country are terrified about sending their children to school every day, yet all those who are responsible for our mass school shootings are never labeled terrorists.

I have personally always labeled ALL those responsible for mass shootings terrorists. I don't care about what other people label them... they are terrorists to me.

Hate crimes and acts of terrorism can overlap. Legally, a hate crime is motivated by prejudice toward a select social group that the victim belongs to, eg, race, religion, sexual orientation. A terrorist act is premeditated, intended to cause political change, targets civilians, and traditionally required the perpetrator to be a member of a subnational group, rather than just share their beliefs.

Legalities aside, terrorist acts imply hatred and hate crimes can instill terror in members of the social group targeted.

Most bullets can go through ' most ' walls. You see drive bys all the time on the news where someone was killed inside their home asleep in their bed because somoeone on the street is shooting at the house.

In tv coverage, I saw police officers carrying automatic assault rifles, so I would think yes.

I think it is just best to be patient at this point. There is a lot of conflicting information right now regarding motive and the devastation he was able to inflict. For me personally, it kind of feels like 9/11 again, and that stirs up a ***** ton of emotions. That and most of my best friends are LGBT.

Yes, SurfieTX, that's exactly how is feels for me as well. It's the stunned, grief stricken, gut wrenching feeling in the pit of my stomach. I'm sitting here, utterly bewildered.

This exact situation that has played out last night at Pulse is what has given my eldest daughter nightmares for years. She will be 13 soon, but is very aware of ISIS because of her social studies classes (they're researched terrorism for several projects in the last two years). She has worried for quite some time about the "ifs" and "whens" of something like this happening on US soil. It hasn't been easy reassuring her, but until this morning, I've been able to quell her fears, and soothe her when she awoke in the middle of the night, to nightmares of attacks by faceless terrorists hurting people, her people - our people - here in the US.

This morning, everything changed, and in the worst way. As we await the completion of the investigation, I am left without the ability to calm my child's fears. The truth is, I don't know if I can do that for myself. It is a truly tragic day, for all of us.

The people of Orlando have suffered a loss so brutal and heinous, I can't even begin to put into it words. It's as though our world has, once again, shifted on its axis. We will never the same again.

The insurmountable loss suffered at Pulse has been forever inscribed upon the hearts of our nation. In my mind, the demographic of the club matters not. Those were our fellow human beings, who went out for a night of revelry, and far too many never made it home. Scores remain hurt, and fight to recover. It all just all defies logic.

This it hurts - to the core...

I wondered that earlier too...did he say something? LE was quick to say he "wasn't from this area," and I thought he probably wouldn't take his ID with him? I think he uttered something that indicated his intentions.

There was communication between the shooter and OPD during the standoff... that should be interesting when it's released.
