Yes, he should. We should not tolerate speech that incites to violence. Do you disagree?

What about the Presidential candidates who attended and the rest of the attendees.

To be (insert your group of choice)phobic is everyones right.

I use to be afraid of spiders. A phobia is an irrational fear. I choose to not live my life in fear.

I do not hate, I do not fear, I will of course die someday. Today I am alive, and life is too darn short to live it in fear.

ISIS and their cohorts will be pleased to have created so many success stories in this thread. They have filled some of us with so much fear, we are driven by hate, and anger. One nil to ISIS.
Agreed! I will not allow ISIS to make me hate nor instill me with fear. I refuse to allow them that!!!

I just talked to my niece, in Denver, in a long emotional phone call. She called about an upcoming family reunion, so the call started out happy.

I went to my niece's wedding last summer. She married her long time girlfriend. They are both community activists and very busy with helping to organize next weekends Gay Pride events in Denver. So naturally we talked a lot about the tragedy in Orlando.

It was very interesting for me to hear my lovely niece try to work through her conflicting feelings about the entire situation. She and I have had some kind of volatile discussions about politics in the past years. She has been very vocal about her anger about Americans being negative about Muslims. She has often said it was over blown and exaggerated and she thinks the towers might have been blown up by Bush and the CIA.

So this tragedy really rattled her and her wife and their friends. She said she is struggling with her inner anger/rage towards this vile man who shot so many innocent people. She does not want to blame extremist Islamic forces because she has always said that is just a scapegoat tactic.

I did a lot of listening and comforting during that sad phone call. It was very hard to hear her painful realizations coming to light.

She is one of the main organizers of Denvers upcoming Pride Parade. It takes place the same time as Comic Con so the town will be full to the max. She is worried now about someone trying to wreak havoc. Last week she had no inkling of that kind of fear or concern...:sigh:

"Can you please provide me a link to where *in the Quran* it says that all good Muslims should kill gays?"..

I posted links a while back. The Quran does not say homosexuality is a punishable offense. The Hadiths do! And much of Sharia law is based on Hadiths NOT the Quran. Alcohol and prostitution are also not forbidden in the Quran however they both violate Sharia Law because they were condemned in the Hadiths.

Nope, not shocking at all. In fact, that's reported often by every news station in the country, so now it's pretty much common knowledge that in some Muslim countries women are killed for not wearing a full burqa, chosing their own husband, or for simply attempting to go to school, and gays are stoned to death.

However, my question was not "In which countries is being gay punishable by death?", it was "Can you please provide me a link to where *in the Quran* it says that all good Muslims should kill gays?". It's no secret that many countries have bad laws and are corrupt, because they have been taken over by the ISIS-style groups that believe in a twisted interpretation of the Quran. Yet, the government does not always speak for every citizen of its country. Abortion (which I am not trying to debate either way at all, it's just an example) is legal in all parts of the US, yet many are against it. If somebody from Uruguay made the statement "In the US abortion is legal, therefore everybody in the US believes that abortion is great.", that would be a very incorrect statement.

I completely agree. Since many were texting from the bathroom, I was thinking of why they couldn't escape out of the window, then I remembered I've not gone to a restaurant in years that had one. I was thinking bars/restaurants/whatever don't have them because they are afraid people will crawl out without paying? No idea really why they wouldn't, but it seems it would have been very helpful in this case.

Thank you for that information, it seems I've got it less than half right at least :). Clearly a good amount of Muslims are against the form of Islam that ISIS practices. It would seem that ISIS has simply overtaken everything because of their access to money and weaponry that the average Muslim citizen wouldn't even dream about having, so it is futile to even try to resist. I think that's why people are not wanting to call this case "Islamic Terrorism", because ISIS is not the form of Islam that most Muslims practice. There's no debate about Mateen committing this horrible crime in the name of ISIS, but many want to make the distinction that "ISIS/ISIL" and "Islam" are far from being synonymous.

If you'll excuse me, it seems I've got to do a little research so I can figure out the bigger half of knowledge that I'm missing.

I have read discussions of the English version of the classic sharia manual Reliance of the Traveller, which has been endorsed by scholars of al-Azhar University, the seat of Sunni Islamic learning since the tenth century; by the International Institute of Islamic Thought, a Muslim Brotherhood think tank that is influential in Washington; and by other influential Islamic governments and commentators. Here is what the manual says about homosexuality:

Sec. p17.1: In more than one place in the Holy Koran, Allah recounts to us the story of Lot’s people, and how He destroyed them for their wicked practice. There is consensus among both Muslims and the followers of all other religions that sodomy is an enormity. It is even viler and uglier than adultery.

Sec. p17.2: Allah Most High says: “Do you approach the males of humanity, leaving the wives Allah has created for you? But you are a people who transgress” (Koran 26:165-66).

Sec. p17.3: The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said:

(1) “Kill the one who sodomizes and the one who lets it be done to him.”
(2) “May Allah curse him who does what Lot’s people did.”
(3) “Lesbianism by women is adultery between them.”

Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, is possibly Sunni Islam’s most influential living sharia jurist, according to many. Here, as reported by the Middle East Forum, is Qaradawi’s teaching on homosexuality:

"We must be aware that in regulating the sexual drive Islam has prohibited not only illicit sexual relations and all what leads to them, but also the sexual deviation known as homosexuality. This perverted act is a reversal of the natural order, a corruption of man’s sexuality, and a crime against the rights of females. (The same applies equally to the case of lesbianism.)

The spread of this depraved practice in a society disrupts its natural life pattern and makes those who practice it slaves to their lusts, depriving them of decent taste, decent morals, and a decent manner of living. The story of the people of Prophet Lut (Lot), peace be upon him, as narrated in the Koran should be sufficient for us. Prophet Lut’s people were addicted to this shameless depravity, abandoning natural, pure, lawful relations with women in the pursuit of this unnatural, foul, and illicit practice. That is why their Prophet Lut, peace be on him, told them, “What! Of all creatures, do you approach males and leave the spouses whom your Lord has created for you? Indeed, you are people transgressing (all limits)!” (Koran, 26: 165–166). . . .

Muslim jurists have held differing opinions concerning the punishment for this abominable practice. Should it be the same as the punishment for fornication, or should both the active and passive participants be put to death? While such punishments may seem cruel, they have been suggested to maintain the purity of the Islamic society and to keep it clean of perverted elements."

For the Shiite point of view, there are quotes from the Ayatollah Sistani, the influential Iraqi cleric whose cooperation the U.S. has sought and at times obtained. when asked, “What is [Islam’s] judgment on sodomy and lesbianism?,” Sistani replied: “Forbidden. Those involved in the act should be punished. In fact, sodomites should be killed in the worst manner possible.” (Emphasis added)

These views aren’t the only way in which Islamic scripture is interpreted. But they are a legitimate, mainstream interpretation. It isn’t just ISIS and al Qaeda who adhere to it. Why is it so hard for us to go online and read for ourselves instead of allowing politicans to tell us otherwise.

Here's more. Hope this helps.

I cant stomach listening to his ex wife & her fiance anymore....
Same here. Blame it on mental illness? Bulls--t. This is the norm back in the old country. His father immigrated here. Not one POLITICIAN will comment on the fathers anti-American and anti gay rants since he got here. Google the speech he made about gays after his son commited this massacre. Now hes trying to backpeddle. To late. His son learned hate from dad.

Katy, i dont know who blew up the towers. But it wasnt a bunch of "devout muslims" doing coke and hanging out a strip bars.
Its seriously time people start taking a hard look at this. The evidence is there as plan as day. Cognitive dissonance is a real thing.

That is what Pocohontas thought. She even convinced her father that the newcomers would fit in just fine and should be welcomed with open arms.

It wasn't just fine, and love didn't make it okay. They were inviting a foreign culture to take over their world and that is exactly what happened.

I dont understand your comment one bit. What does this have to do with hate perpetuating hate? We could have a more intelligent conversation if you would just speak your truth. Stop beating around the bush and tell us how you truly feel.
ETA - i know exactly how you feel due to previous interactions. But why do you hide it in an open forum? Just say what you feel.

Oh my. Here come the tinfoil hat conspiracy theories. Beam me up Scotty! Same thing in every thread.

:ufo::ufo::abduction:

RIP to all the victims of Islamic Terrorists. It will just keep happening until the sheep wake up. :seeya:

I am just going with the news coming out. Gay dating sites, 12 trips to Pulse....could we have our first gay terrorist?

It looks like OM's father is some kind of a whack job too:

Yeah he is a whackjob but let's not use that as yet ANOTHER excuse as to why this can't have anything to do with Islamic terrorism.

It is also possible he could have gone crazy before he left Afghanistan. Many Afghan men were thrown into Russian prison camps and they suffered pretty badly, supposedly a lot of them were never the same again.

Folks, if you want to live in a world without hate. Then stop hating. It really is that simple. Its called the Golden Rule. And it works. If only you would try it.
