He is doing it for his country. OK how? What did the people at Pulse have to do with his country?

Nothing, but the mass shooting would hit the media with his message. Politically motivated hate crime/terrorism picked a soft target focused on homosexuals due to his own homophobia.

Was his marriage 'arranged' by family? I had news on and I think that was mentioned
He washed his hands during massacre, talked about no harm to black people?

 • #483
Interesting that he considers Afghanistan HIS COUNTRY and not the place where he was born. Kind of nullifies all of the arguments about him being an Amercan Born Citizen and all that.

Sure does.

Interesting juxtaposition of viewpoints.

I no longer live in the US. The reports of refugees doing rapes are fueled by a resurgence of Neo Nazi and anti immigration groups. If you wish, you can search online for your own sources.

"Federal prosecutors have convened a grand jury to investigate the wife of the Orlando nightclub shooter, seeking to charge her as an accessory to 49 counts of murder and 53 counts of attempted murder as well as with failure to notify law enforcement about the pending terrorist attack and lying to federal agents, a federal law enforcement source confirmed Tuesday to FoxNews.com.

FBI agents have interviewed Omar Mateen's wife, Noor Salman, in the days since Sunday's massacre that killed 49 and wounded 53 more.

A federal law enforcement source additionally told Fox News that Salman knew of her husband's deadly plans and did nothing to stop him.

I hope they make the right decision and is charged and sentenced to the fullest extent of the law. Doing nothing is inexcusable.

How is this case being covered in the media in the U.S? Has there been much criticism of the FBI?

Yes !!!! This is how she should be charged!

That likely isn't how it went down. They don't sit her down and say "Do you have anything you would like to share with us?"

It likely starts off with "We have evidence PROVING you accompanied him when he purchased the firearms used to kill 50 people. You are obviously an accessory! You helped plan this and we can prove it! You are looking at a ____ prison term at the very least! Your child will grow up without a mother! Do you have anything you want to say? If you tell us the whole truth maybe we can help you."

And then the "splaining" begins and she spills her guts.

All media are doing her invovmment in a sneaky way, imo. She was with him when he picked up some ammuntion. If this happened a month ago vs last week is there a difference. I think so.

people that are sick say all kinds of things, when agitated. Of course the intial reaction is to say please dont go kill a bunch of people.

The context is ,imo, important - espcecially when dealing with someone who is unstable. As far reports thus far, its all vague.

There has been no verifiable "quote" to acknowledge that she was aware that he was going to the Pulse , in Orlando, this Sat night to kill as many as he can.

To me at this point, it seems like the media is taking stuff that is normal (relativily speaking) . She went with him for some bullets.

The only real concrete data we have is according to his first wife was he was very emotionially unstable. He could become very violent quickly. His wife described him as bipolar, while reproting no serious religious affilation.

The only real concrete quote we have is from the guy he worked with, who quit becasue he was behaving so horribly . He was texting this guy tons of time a day.

The only concrete quotes we have are from some folks in the club that stated he could really be nasty when buzzed.

The only quote we have is that he pulled a knife on someone.

All of these desriptions, IMO, sound much more like we are talking about mental illiness/behavoior as oppossed to this radicalized terrorist.

The I know the Boston Marathon bombers, sound more mental than this terrorist.

The survivor who described him, in the bathroom, chuckling after he shot someone , again sounds like mental.

No one has reported him runnning around yelling his faith around, like we have seen in the past.

He was shot to death - he did not die in some cause for a , for lack of a better word , for his comrades.

In his apt they found two books related to that culture.

He was born here, acclimated to the custums it would seem. He assimilated.

We have no "proof" of this big mosque attendance.

The compliants where the FBI were involved were dsecribed as bigotted - and about woman and africian americans, not Westerners.

He had obsessive thought about becoming a New York police officer (shirts)

I found the Star Wars stuff somewhat juvinile, if his child was older it might be about the child.

He ended up spending his last night holed up in bathroom, cowering. This is IMO, and individual, who I assme had been drinking, make an impulsive choice, and went to his car, got the guns and proceeded.

Cant recall, has their ever been a authentic terroirist attack , baed on idealogical beliefs, wherein the perp talks on a phone for three hours??

His final moments he was trying to escape...................................

authentic terrorists omo, have no concern if they live or die ... there is "cause" based behaviors which endorse an afterlife.

It just seems as if one takes a step back, and focuses only on the quotes we have gotten, thus far, from people who knew and interacted with him ;the picture we get is much more vivid in the mental health arena than terror

Her devout Muslim mother wouldn't eat at a neighbor's house because they had a dog.

Portrait Emerges of Noor Zahi Salman of Rodeo, California, Wife of Orlando Shooter

Neighbors on the quiet street in Rodeo where she grew up told NBC Bay Area on Monday that Salman was the daughter of Ekbal Zahi and Bassam Abdallah Salman, who died of a heart attack several years ago. The couple has three other daughters - the youngest is 14.

What is his message? "I am a severely disturbed person that kills "?

There we go , CNN is now pulling back -- saying she asked him not to do anything violent

There is zero information that she knew anything specfic about anything, he had a violent past

It was a Sig Sauer MCX.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...sed-was-not-an-ar-15-that-doesnt-change-much/

The chief didn't say it was an AR-15, but an "AR-15 type."

It seems AR-15 has almost become a generic description as the words are more recognizable to folks than, say, Sig Sauer.

I get more hung-up on the mis-identifier of "automatic weapon" than I do on "assault weapon." Semi-automatic and automatic being two distinctly different capabilities.

For me the term "assault rifle" is more open to interpretation, incorporating design factors, ammunition specs, as well as firing capabilities.

I am seeing more and more reporters use the phrase "assault-type weapon." More room for interpretation, but probably doesn't cut down on the hate mail they receive over the issue.

If any video surveillance from inside Pulse exists and is ever released, that could be educational, giving the general public a pretty good sense of the capabilities of a semi-automatic Sig Sauer rifle.

They are very similar and both just as deadly when people like this guy get hold of them. Neither are military weapons and there's actually no real classification of "assault" rifle.

Why they would charge the wife with misprison is beyond me. It isn't even used in the US even though it is a law. Here's more about it.

Under the federal statute, the prosecution must prove the following elements to obtain a misprision of felony conviction: (1) another person actually committed a felony; (2) the defendant knew that the felony was committed; (3) the defendant did not notify any law enforcement or judicial officer; and (4) the defendant took affirmative steps to conceal the felony. Precisely what constitutes active concealment is a Question of Fact that depends on the circumstances of the case. Lying to a police officer satisfies the requirement, but beyond that generally accepted rule, little is certain about the definition of active concealment.

Almost every state has rejected the crime of misprision of felony. Thus, persons are under no duty to report a crime. One policy reason for rejecting misprision is that the crime is vague and difficult to apply to real situations. Another reason is that the crime is seen as an unacceptable encroachment on civil freedom. In 1822 the U.S. Supreme Court cautioned against misuse of the misprision of felony statute, stating, "It may be the duty of a citizen to … proclaim every offense which comes to his knowledge; but the law which would punish him in every case, for not performing this duty, is too harsh" (Marbury v. Brooks, 20 U.S. [7 Wheat.] 556, 5 L. Ed. 522).

I think he meant the Islamic State, not Afghanistan.

Breaking News on Fox

Shooter definitely scouted Disneyland Springs (Downtown) significantly and this scouting was done well before the shooting. He WAS scouting these place for awhile. It wasn't said specifally how long he scouted... just what it was "well before the shooting".

Not just a gay attack.

I guess b/c she admitted that she knew. It's not like she was just married to him and didn't have a clue.

I understand that but the law is rarely used and there's stiffer charges she could be charged with that might fit her part much better.

About Disney Springs, one of the links I posted a little while ago said they went in June to scout Disney Springs & Pulse out. I had only read about the one in April.
