Well I meant if he was so radicalized BACK then, I think he would have had more guns etc, if there is a will there is a way, not hard to have someone else purchase them like the San Bernardino one did. Somehow I do not envision him being that patient to wait several years and bingo two weeks ago is his time.

It does seem like he was getting worse and worse. Maybe just took that long to work up to it..and I do think like others that the gay thing had something to do with it. Either way he had some issues.

After re-listening to the original early A.M. Sunday press conference and also having now listened to many of the stories told by witnesses, it does sound like the onset of the shooting by OM took place INSIDE the club, not outside. When the Chief OPD (?) says "then he went back inside the club" I think he meant that the shooter was inside at the time and changed his location to the back of the club. Which is what he did.

Many of the eye witnesses accounts differ, of course. And that is to be expected since people were panicking and in shock. Many were convinced there was more than one shooter. And there actually was at the time of the original exchange of shots between OM and the off-duty onsite police officer.

It also sounds like when other officers arrived on scene that they entered the club and got people out from the dance floor area.

There was a witness interviewed who described OM as being out on the patio area shooting. From all other descriptions, it does not seem that OM was ever out on the patio shooting. Perhaps it was LE? Who knows?

I'm sure the conflicting witness stories make it difficult for LE to put a narrative/timeline together. But they must be used to receiving conflicting accounts of traumatic events.

From the Daily Mail site:

"Mateen's first wife, Sitora Yusufiy, 27, also said that his own father once called him gay in front of her."

True. Whoever killed those 8 people in OH is an unhinged, psychopathic, terrorist in my view.

Unhinged psychopath for sure.

Terrorist, maybe, maybe not. Terrorism by definition has some political component. I haven't been following that case lately -- have they discovered a political component to those killings?

His sister protected x wife and mother knew he abused the x wife. Fathers denies this.

  • #625
So parents got him out of trouble for years? Or was proud of this behavior?

according to all the above he's had some serious issues for yrs and red flags that were again, overlooked or something. It seems this is a pretty common scenerio.

Exactly my thoughts. We know of 2 guns he had with him. We can assume these 2 guns were the only guns he owned, or we can assume there were additional guns in the parked rental vehicle, in his wife's possession, at home, in a vehicle he owned, at his father's home, etc.
my point is, we know that there were at least 2 guns; but we don't know if he owned additional personal guns. IMO, high probability.

It was reported on the news a gun was found in the suv but never heard it mentioned what type of gun.

Also reported that he posted on FB his allegiance to ISIS and he prayed allah would accept him or something along that line. jmo

Here is a news link that confirms he had a 3rd gun that was found in his car that he did not drive to the club. I would not be surprised to learn of even more he owned.

"In addition, authorities found a .38-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver in the shooter’s car that was not used in the attack."

Oppostional disorder and psychopath possibly. Parents didn't try to see professional help? They should be held resposible. It looks like everyone saw this coming.

Xwife says he could not drink or be gay in his family.
He behaved not like a straight man. Liked to go to clubs night life. Loved to take photos of himself. Look good. Used steroids. His father would make comments about sexuality. Father called him a name that means gay. Family structure was to be excellent. Father in politics and intolerant to anything bad in family.

I realize he has found solace in extremist Islam, however, if he had those issues in h.s. and was in an Alternative School, it seems he had lots of other issues, such as lack of self-control, and defiance of authority (a guess). Lots of kids have to go to A.S. but they don't throw things, terrorize their classmates, and end up murdering 49 people. I'm not taking away from the fact he was into an extremist religion, but there was something else going on in his brain. jmo

Hm. Many people have dual citizenship.

Indeed they do.

Afroyim v. Rusk (1967)

Afroyim sued the State Department, and the case reached the U.S. Supreme Court, which ruled in his favor in a 5-to-4 vote. Interestingly, the Court invoked the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Although intended to guarantee citizenship rights to freed slaves, the Court held that in effect it protected all American citizens from losing their citizenship without proof of intent to do so. True, Afroyim had voted in an Israeli election. But this was not a formal renunciation of his U. S. citizenship.

http://immigration.uslegal.com/dual-citizenship/significant-court-cases/afroyim-v-rusk-1967/

Vance v. Terraza (1980)

Held:

1. In establishing loss of citizenship, the Government must prove an intent to surrender United States citizenship, not just the voluntary commission of an expatriating act such as swearing allegiance to a foreign nation. Congress does not have any general power to take away an American citizen's citizenship without his "assent," which means an intent to relinquish citizenship, whether the intent is expressed in words or is found as a fair inference from his conduct. The expatriating acts specified in § 349(a) cannot be treated as conclusive evidence of the indispensable voluntary assent of the citizen.

*SNIP*

2. However, the Constitution permits Congress to prescribe the standard of proof in expatriation proceedings.

*SNIP*

3. Nor is the presumption of voluntariness provided in § 349(c) constitutionally infirm. While the statute provides that any of the statutory expatriating acts, if proved, is presumed to have been committed voluntarily, it does not also direct a presumption that the act has been performed with the intent to relinquish United States citizenship, which matter remains the burden of the party claiming expatriation to prove by a preponderance of the evidence.

Lots of pictures, of course.

How does she live with herself?

This morning, FBI sources told NBC and ABC that the mother-of-one had driven her husband on scouting missions to the Pulse nightclub as well as on a visit to Disney Springs accompanied by her three-year-old son.

But despite being present when Mateen purchased the guns used to mow down 49 people and injure a further 53 in the early hours of Sunday morning, she failed to inform the authorities – and could now face charges herself.

The only answer I can come up with is she was complicit and just fine with the idea.

They are all cowards. Have any of them attacked where armed people are? jmo

We could also reword it as he certainly was not willing to die for his beliefs

Confusion.

Eta: no. It's the current wife's mother who's home in California is now being raided, according to the daily mail.

As to whether the killer was a "real" jihadist, radicalized, an ISIS supporter, whatever term you want to use, searches of his computer revealed he was not only watching ISIS propaganda, he was also watching beheading videos. Whatever else he may have been, an angry malcontent, a bisexual or gay man, a mentally unstable person, all indications are that he was a radicalized jihadist. Nothing has been revealed thus far to indicate he was directed by ISIS or other terror groups, only inspired. I am wondering how he bought the weapons ($1600 for the rifle and estimated seven to eight hundred for the handgun) and financed his Saudi Arabia trips on his salary. He may have received financial support from his father for the travel and bought the guns on credit. All MOO.

Boatloads of red flags.

IMO, anyone known to have cheered at the WTC attacks should be permanently on the FBI's investigation roster.

he threw chair and spat at teachers.

--- impulse control issues --they start early!! Totally fits with first wives descriptions of his mood changes. Quick, intense shifts in mood and behavior

I have tried to find an old post but to no avail but I want to say something in regard.
CARIIS I love ya lady so nothing negative but you posted about latino families not being open to homosexuals in the family and even had a link.I have to disagree.
I was born in Orlando and spent my early teens to late twenties with gay PuertoRicans.Orlando has a very large population of PR's.I was politically active in the gay community which was small in the late 80's. The families are very loving and open to homosexuals especially their family members. PuertoRican families love to dance and have parties and all was included from children to the very old and it never mattered if you were gay or straight. The families welcomed and fed anyone who came into their home, always a pot of rice and beans on the stove at any house.
Seeing all the survival stories and hearing about the victims, which most were PuertoRican, I feel a deep sadness but I know their loving families will be strong.
Sorry about not finding the quote but I had to get this off my chest.
I apoligise for butting in on the conversation on OM.
