I have a question. If the shooter was indeed gay, in his mind would killing other gays and being a "martyr" be the only way he could get to heaven or their equivalent of heaven?

How would the hostages have been in more danger, if they had been rescued earlier?

Well considering police knocked down a wall for 30 people to flee out of, every single one of them would have been in a very bad position to be standing in an enclosed area while police came in for a shootout.

But he (the Dr.) has said that the initial intake (the height of the incident) that there were 9 brought in that did succumb to their injuries - my question is why the death toll has not been adjusted yet?

First it was 50 dead at the club - now adjusted to 49 + shooter
53 were injured and at hospitals

This Dr. has said they treated 44 (not counting the 9) - that adds up to 53

so why still only 49 dead?

I've been trying to keep up with these numbers and everytime they give an official update - they just don't completely add up and the media doesn't ask

" it was shortly after 2 we were all saying our goodbyes and it was a great night... all of a sudden we heard a shotgun that kept going.. I was shot three times on my leg and I fell down.. I tried to get back up.. I got trampled over.. my bones were shattered in my left leg I could not get up.. all I could hear was the shotgun and people yelling for help.... by this time the man went into the other room and I could hear more shotgun.. I thought I was a little safe this time.. . but he came back into the room and started shooting people that were dead and everyone else.. he came over and shot the girl next to me.. by the glory of God he shot towards my head but it hit my hand.. and then shot again and it hit my hip.. I just laid there so he would not know I was alive... by this time he went up to the front and I think that's when he was battling with the cops... policemen looked at me and started to grab me and said this is the only way I can take you out and he dragged me out to Wendys... I felt all the blood on me and from other people.. there were bodies everywhere.. we were able to get to the ambulance and I got over here to the hospital.. if it weren't for you guys I wouldn't be here.. I appreciate that and I will love you guys forever.

I continue to be confused about the 'shootout' with police outside the club.
Did this happen as he walked up to the club?
I've read multiple times that after the shootout, he went back into the club, indicating the shootout happened after he had already been inside... Timeline, anyone?

My sense is he got there at 930. Shortly before closing (kinda like Batman) he went outside to get armed. As he apporached the club the guard saw him and a gunfight broke out and he ran into the club seeking shelter and to continue killing.

Cariis - just one thing - your rent estimate - try at least double that $1200. a month (and that's low for a 2 bdrm in Orlando) although maybe it was a condo and he bought it years ago - first wife said she had lived there as well and that was 7-8 years ago.

I just think he was getting money from somewhere. I don't know why that's important but just something to think about.

The hospital (or one of the hospitals?) said 9 victims arrived either without a pulse or in very bad shape. They were pronounced dead or died shortly after arriving.

Angel Colon survivor-my gawd just heartbreaking and horrifying. Shot was it 2 or 3 times in the leg? Then killer shot him twice more as he lay on the floor.

I'm wondering why police didn't enter for three hours?

I think because it developed into an actual full blown hostage assualt. There have been so many different accounts (which IMO are important). Mainly, was there shooting going on after the initial assualt.

One of the guys who hid in the bathroom reported yes, he shot (over the stall at him- he was hit twice).

I say I wish an accurate report would come out regarding this in that it is my understanding (that is what we have all seen) is the mandate now is to storm in instantly.

If they had been hearing shots after the intial wave, why did they not storm for so long?


Then I think, when I heard they did have communication with him there thinking might be there might be some way to talk him out without any more injuries.

I def think his intial plan was to shoot people outside as they were leaving hop in his car a split. If he had been there so often it is somewhat confusing that he did take out the armed cop first before proceeding -drunk?

It has been "portrayed" that the reentry was a more a result of being surprised that someone shot at him.

He would have, IMO, been able to have a high fatality count with his plan if he waited several minutes for the bar to drain out onto the parking lot. I think he was trying to get into postion to do that when the armed guy saw him and the weapon .

If the 9:30 time is correct (when he arrived that night) it seems his only reason for waiting is for the bar to get busier. In the old days, you really did not get out before 1030 ish, and there were bottle clubs (after 2:00).

The hospital is a 75 bed training center for trauma...

Now another emergency room physician talking they were told coming in some of gunshot wounds coming in.. the first one came in was pretty stable we were hoping they were going to be that way but the next three were very critical.. they started triage.. They were being brought in truckloads not only in ambulances and they were lining up in the hallway... quickly our trauma Bay became full to capacity and we had to move people out.. We started doing triage to move people out of the trauma Bay for other people so that we could triage and treat everybody.. in a matter of 30 minutes we had multiple surgeons coming out.. nurses and techs started coming in.. helping with triage.. dr. Smith said up Triage.

Back to the original doctor.. the difficulty was that we had no prior knowledge and it made it very difficult for the staff.. they were showing up without any notification at all and we didn't know what their injuries were until they were brought into the trauma Bay...

Thank u Atthelake for this. I was watching Angel recount his harrowing experience on Fox and couldn't hold back the tears. So glad he is alright.
