My only complaint is why would a grand jury even be needed. I would have charged her as soon as the words she said about trying to talk him out of it left her mouth.

I think common sense has left LE/FBI building.

I think for Federal cases, charges have to be brought by a grand jury. Not positive, tho.

Taking pictures of odd things for a Disney guest... prohibited areas, emergency exits....
Oh Disney is very strict about that! When my daughter's school marching band was marching in a parade at Disneyland, and my husband accidentally kept filming behind the gate/facade at Small World as he was filming the band from behind marching away- he got yelled at by Disney employees. And only select band parents who were preapproved were allowed behind-the-scenes to help the kids get into uniforms. They don't want the illusion of the facades ruined.

Pet Alliance of Orlando has offered to house pets of injured victims as well as re-home pets of the deceased. People all over the country are donating blood. A real estate company in Orlando is offering free housing in their empty units to families of victims who have traveled to Orlando and others are providing food and rides. The good in many people is humbling and amazing.

I think they need grand jury for the death penalty

I have tried to find an old post but to no avail but I want to say something in regard.
CARIIS I love ya lady so nothing negative but you posted about latino families not being open to homosexuals in the family and even had a link.I have to disagree.
I was born in Orlando and spent my early teens to late twenties with gay PuertoRicans.Orlando has a very large population of PR's.I was politically active in the gay community which was small in the late 80's. The families are very loving and open to homosexuals especially their family members. PuertoRican families love to dance and have parties and all was included from children to the very old and it never mattered if you were gay or straight. The families welcomed and fed anyone who came into their home, always a pot of rice and beans on the stove at any house.
Seeing all the survival stories and hearing about the victims, which most were PuertoRican, I feel a deep sadness but I know their loving families will be strong.
Sorry about not finding the quote but I had to get this off my chest.
I apoligise for butting in on the conversation on OM.

Hi!

What I was pointing out was that internilzed homophobia occurs in the hispanic population more intensly and more often. It is the "machismo" notion.

All of us have learned a lot in the last the couple of days regarding the Islamic hatred of homosexuality. I also tonight found it very signfigant in this mess that the son being gay , in terms of his father being a poitical figure in a land that dispises homosexuality added a lot for me in terms of this guys self hatred of himself, and others like him.

CHronolgically it fits too. He purchased the guns in the first of week of June - the same timeframe he was particpating in gays days.

Globally, gays days are about screaming at the top of ones lungs I am gay, I am proud, I am not hiding any longer. That is how the red shirts started- its a proclamation of ones sexuality. It is a joyous celebration for hours!!

In all the years I went , it is loud! It is declaratroy. It is a park full of gay men , in loud red T-shirts holding each others hands proudly, kissing each other, being flaboyant etc etc.

This guy is in a sea of self acceptance while hating himself for being what thousands all around him are celebrating. And in Mickey Mouse land no less......think about it!!

IMO it makes so much sense that him attending more than one of these events in a short timeframe , could take a raging homophobic over to action and rage.

So where does that rage go - into Pulse the night before last ..............................

Throw in a mood disorder, some alcohol and we are off

As it relates to the post regarding hispanic culture Study wise it has been found this to be true.

Latinos, had higher internalized homophobia than Whites and, as predicted, this was mediated by their greater exposure to non-affirming religion.

Given the strictnorms regarding traditional gender roles in Latino cultures, higher levels ofmental stress can be found .....

LGBT people who feel shunned by their community because of homophobia often internalize those negative feelings. They may experience hatred toward gays before they become aware of their own attraction to the same sex

. When they do recognize it, they begin to see themselves as different and socially unacceptable, which can damage their own sense of self-worth. Low self-esteem and depression often follow suit. When coupled with isolation, the foundation for long-lasting self-hatred is laid, making it difficult to move beyond negative attitudes toward both homosexuality and themselves.

Stigma also prevents conversations about bisexual behavior. Many turn to substance use to ease the pain and lessen anxiety.

Compared to heterosexuals, there are higher levels of substance use, suicide attempts, sexual health risks and depressive symptoms .....The mental health of Latino is affected by violence, stigma, internalized homophobia and discrimination that is sometimes associated with ‘coming out’to their friends, co-workers, families and the community

As it relates to coming out , it is not a event. It is a process, that takes years for the folks that are surrounded by a family system that finds it diffiuclt to talk about much less accept. Millions of gay teens are tossed out of thier homes and onto the streets, never to speak to a family member again.

If the tweet is correct and Disney did indeed warn the FBI in April, then it's not matter of anything being "shaded" in hindsight. If Disney did indeed warn the FBI in April, then Disney somehow noticed behaviors that set off alarm bells sufficient to cause them to warn the FBI.

I've seen this story in several places since yesterday, attributed to People magazine. I've also heard it on various TV networks today couched as "reportedly", "allegedly", etc. All MOO

I believe in Florida, a grand jury must convene first in order to bring first degree murder charges.
I don't know what else it applies to......

I am so often wrong but I called it in here yesterday that it was the wife that was going to be arrested.

What is it with these women? Just like with the Boston murderer. I am sure that OM was abusive, volatile, irrational, cruel. What is the attraction? I think with the money, it came from her parents. They probably helped out the young charming couple.

Apparently not around gator beach though.

It might be how they found out where the child went if no one saw him go in.just a guess.Sorry o/t.

OT .. You know people will blame the poor parents .. :(

Well, this toddler didn't tell his mother he was going off with the gator, and gators aren't endangered species... but yeah, where were his parents???

 • #695
Well, he was overheard talking to the 911 operator, according to witnesses.

That's a political leaning, to me.

Oh, no, we were talking about terrorist, psychopath, etc... and I said I considered the one who killed the 8 in OH, the same thing, b/c he struck terror into the hearts of those left behind even though there were no political statements.

Oh, hi there!

I think there is terror and there is Terror™. This guy definitely committed the first kind of terror, not so sure about the second.

I think ISIS et al no doubt appealed to him, and maybe inspired him, but it sounds like he was a problem since childhood, well before terrorism was an everyday thought in the West. There doesn't seem to be anything political about his motivations.

It does seem like there were plenty of steps along the way during his life where people could have intervened. Or maybe not. Maybe some people are just born broken. It's a horrid thought, but I ponder it.

BBM Yes, they are.

I am just using your quote and late to the conversation but I thought it was stated the wife did indeed know he was planning something. I could be wrong and it could be bad reporting and can not remember where I saw it.

From what I gather she did, but, it is late, and I am tired, and I didn't have a link, and didn't want to search for it, so didn't want to say 100% w/o one.

Does one get bail when charged with accessory to 49 murders?

Depends on the judge I'd say. I've seen them do some crazy stuff.

A lot of tourists/people not familiar w/Florida, get close to the banks of fresh water areas. I do NOT do this. I won't even get into a swimming pool w/o checking it first. In lakes, ponds, etc... you cannot see them until they've launched out of the water. They all could have very well been standing together at the edge of the water and it launched itself out. People underestimate how far they can jump and how fast they are. They also do not realize that they can swim in salt water for quite a ways and come out on the beaches.
