I think that eyewitness information, and observed information of motive would be greatly appreciated by the Federal investigators, in this case. No tip is too small. JMO

And know that he (omar)used the word, allah and not god because it was translated from arabic, (what he was speaking) to english.

Allah (/ˈælə, ˈɑːlə, əlˈlɑː/;[1][2] Arabic: الله‎, translit. Allāh‎, pronounced [ɑɫ'ɫɑh] ( listen)) is the Arabic word referring to God in Abrahamic religions.

List of police outfits that rejected Omar Mateen grows

“Omar Mateen's quest to become a law enforcement officer led him to apply for a job with the Florida Highway Patrol in 2011, but he failed his exam, state records show.

His hopes were further dashed when he reapplied for the police academy at Indian River State College in 2015 and was not selected for admission. He had been kicked out of the academy eight years earlier after threatening to bring a gun into class, records show. At the time, his plan was to be a corrections officer, although his ouster from the academy ended that.

"I want to make get [sic] into law enforcement. It has been my goal ever since I was an [sic] adolescence,'' Mateen wrote on his FHP application in 2011.

Mateen, the 29-year-old gunman who killed 49 people in Orlando on June 12, failed to earn a passing score of 79 in his law enforcement exam and wasn't accepted as a candidate, records show.

More, of course...

I wonder if they tested him for either?

On his 2015 application for the police academy, he said he did not drink alcohol, but he did use marijuana and steroids in the past.

I'm curious now about his entire employment and education history.

A poster referred to Mateen as an "injustice collector".......I absolutely agree with that assessment, but not with the rest of the posters comments. Mateen,in my opinion, was a failure as a Muslim, as a husband, as a gay guy, as a co-worker etc. And he knew it. I am guessing that he was familiar with the tenets of his "faith", and although not particularly observant, believed in the hereafter as described by his "faith". In my opinion, the mass murder of LGBTs was his idea of redemption, as a martyr (he HAD to be killed by the "infidel", to assure his "martyrdom") to be pure enough to enter the "paradise" he had believed in all his life. JMO ETA he knew that there was no greater an "infidel" than himself.

Two victims of the June 12 Pulse nightclub mass shooting in Orlando in which 49 people were killed are in critical condition at the Orlando Regional Medical Center, Dr. Joseph Ibrahim, Trauma Medical Director at Orlando Regional Medical Center, tells PEOPLE.

In total, 11 victims of the 44 treated still remain hospitalized as of Friday morning, with eight of the patients in stable condition, according to a statement from the hospital obtained by PEOPLE. Ibrahim describes one patient at ORMC as being in "guarded" condition, meaning he is able to move on his own and speak.

Three survivors are also still being treated at Florida Hospital; those patients are in fair condition.

Yes, I think that this is what he said. Do you believe EVERYTHING he has said, or JUST this? Is this the smoking gun? Personally, I think that any kook can make final pronouncements about their motive for mass murder. Some claim to murder because Jesus told them to......should any weird pronouncement be accepted as truth? JMO

FBI investigators say they have found no evidence that Orlando shooter had gay lovers.
"So far, they have found no photographs, no text messages, no smartphone apps, no gay 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and no cell-tower location data to suggest that Mateen — who was twice married to women and had a young son — conducted a secret gay life, the officials said.'

The city of Orlando will establish a permanent memorial to those who lost their lives in the June 12 massacre at Pulse nightclub, Mayor Buddy Dyer announced Friday.

The timeline for creating such a memorial and the location were not announced, and Dyer asked for patience as the city continues "with this very sensitive and difficult work that will pay tribute to victims, survivors, families and our community."

The Orange County Regional History Center will collect and preserve the mementos, including signs and notes, left at public locations throughout the city, the city's announcement said. The Seneff Arts Plaza, in front of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, has been the scene of a large community-created memorial. Since the stretch of Orange Avenue in front of Pulse reopened Tuesday night, flowers and other items have been left at the scene of the massacre, in which 49 clubgoers were fatally shot.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said he feels strongly that the site of the nation’s deadliest mass shooting should become a permanent memorial.

“It's a decision we don't need to make today,” Dyer said. “But my initial thought would be not to reopen a nightclub there but to use it as a site for a memorial and maybe incorporate the Pulse sign in some way."

Pulse owner Barbara Poma agreed the site should become some type of memorial.

A few days ago, a colleague from the college where I teach and serve as president called to let me know the FBI had just paid a visit. They wanted to inform me that the Orlando shooter, Omar Mateen, had been Googling me on his computer and iPhone. They were concerned that he may have had malevolent intent, given that the Islamic State had called for my death twice in the last year, presumably due to my strong condemnation of the utterly anti-Islamic nature of their “state” in a sermon that went viral in the Middle East.

I wish Omar had called me; I like to think I could have dissuaded him or advised him to seek professional help, or at least helped him channel his anger and frustration into something productive and meaningful. Instead, surfing the Internet, he found a crypt full of contempt and hate that allowed him to clothe his naked aggression in a coat of religiosity.

More in between and at the link:

I think it is fatally naive to minimize the fact that Mateen was tied to radical Muslim extremists and swore allegiance to ISIS. You can chat about his possible mental illness, but I happen to think that anyone who wants to enslave women, rape children and execute homosexuals is mentally ill, so that excuse will not fly for me. Everyone in ISIS is mentally ill, that doesn't mitigate the real and present danger they pose to everyone who doesn't think as they do.

Any evidence this is what OM wanted?

I think that's an especially good article!

I googled his name and found this:

Hamza Yusuf is the current president of Zaytuna College, located in Berkeley, California. He is an advisor to Stanford University’s Program in Islamic Studies and the Center for Islamic Studies at Berkeley’s Graduate Theological Union. He also serves as vice-president for the Global Center for Guidance and Renewal, which was founded and is currently presided over by Shaykh Abdallah bin Bayyah, one of the top jurists and masters of Islamic sciences in the world. For almost a decade, Hamza Yusuf was consecutively ranked as “The Western word’s most influential Islamic scholar” by The 500 Most Influential Muslims, edited by John Esposito and Ibrahim Kalin, (2009).

Rodeo, home of Omar's wife's mother (and other family) is just up the road a bit from Berkeley. Maybe he wanted to meet with Yusuf while they were on their trip?

And at least one case of someone being told by a dog.

But yeah, weird pronouncements don't mean much without more information. Which I hope we'll get as the investigation moves forward.

I knew a man who wanted to kill the Pope for Kurt Cobain. If he'd ever followed through - well, grunge rock didn't have a single thing to do with his psychosis.

That's a good thought, IMO. I think you might be right.

From that article, I came across this People article, which seemed especially poignant to me:

People Exclusive
Father Shot in Head in Orlando Massacre Remains in Critical Condition: 'It's Beyond a
Miracle He's Even Alive' Says Brother

By CAITLIN KEATING 06/24/2016 AT 04:30 PM EDT

http://www.people.com/article/orlando-shooting-victim-critical-condition

“Leonel Melendez, a 38-year-old father, was shot in the head at Orlando's Pulse Nightclub on June 12 during a massacre that killed 49 people. Since then, his family has sat vigil, by his hospital bedside hoping for the best, his brother tells PEOPLE.

"He's still in the ICU but he's showing a lot of progress," David Melendez says. "It's still a waiting game. We just have to take it day-by-day."

Leonel, an employee at Gucci in Orlando, was shot in the back of the head and on his thigh. When he arrived at the hospital he immediately had surgery on his thigh because of the near-fatal amount of blood he had lost.

"They had to revive him twice," says David.

His friend and colleague, Javier Jorge-Reyes, 40, who was with him that night, was killed.”

ISIS is guilty of all of the above, and the killer did pledge his allegiance to ISIS so to me, that is one indicator. We know he wanted to "execute homosexuals" because he did. MOO
