According to these sources, her partner (father of her children) , 2 children, and stepchild were in Tennessee to see snow when she was murdered. She stayed in Florida because she had just begun a new job.

Who knew she was home alone? Seems like the signs of children living there would be obvious. A random home invasion perp wouldn’t risk there being an entire family at home.

Yes, I cannot help but wonder whether she was specifically targeted.

What a coincidence that she was killed in her home the weekend her partner and children were all out of town. Sounds targeted, with the perp having inside knowledge of the family's plans. Makes me think of murder for hire.

On Feb. 28, Harris' younger sister and only sibling was found dead inside the Ocklawaha home she shared with her children, their father, and his 11-year-old son. Harris doesn't know who killed her sister, or why. Melissa Nease was 29.

Deputies discovered Melissa Nease, 29, inside her house on a relatively remote stretch of Guava Pass Drive after someone called 911 around 6 p.m. on Feb. 28. Nease’s only sibling, Amy Harris, said a friend found her sister hurt inside the house.

I wonder what friend found her “hurt” and what was the COD? So horrible. Who saw her last? MOO

Did she have much of a social media presence? Any mention of family leaving town or her being alone could have been a calling card for someone with bad intentions. It sounds like they are keeping quiet on the COD.

I think this is her FB page, but she hasn't posted since 2013. Some interesting comments under the last photo shared. Doing a bit more sleuthing on social media, more interesting info can be found re: someone very close to her. Can't say more due to TOS.

Ocklawaha murder victim identified
MCSO has identified the victim as Melissa Nease. The 29-year-old was found at Guava Pass Drive over the weekend after receiving a tip.

BBM maybe it's just their way of wording it but seems strange to describe it like that instead of as receiving a 911 call.

According to the below linked article her sister saw her on the 25th. Her partner SJ states he and the kids left Friday, the 26th, and that he messaged Nease several times while he and the children were away, but got no answer.

So if his account is correct she likely did not make it to church unless she was ignoring his messages.

I haven't seen any confirmation in the articles thus far whether she made it work on Friday.

I looked at a satellite view of her street (Guava Pass). Her house is the middle house in a group of 3 homes that have wooded areas on the sides and in the back. The houses look pretty close together. The houses appear to be older 1 story stucco homes in the $120,000-130,000 range. It does not seem like a place thrives would target. It is not a wealthy area. Also, it seems sort of out of the way. I don't think someone would just randomly happen upon her home.

After seeing your post I looked it up as well and I don’t think it was random. There’s still a lot to learn about this.

The video is brief and shows what appears to be a male in a mask and hat. I think the person might be wasting glasses.

The article also says there are two suspects and that she died from a gunshot wound.

Not much to go on but they have something. I hope they find DNA if the suspect was in the home.
