@Aurora90 but a photo of Stephen Lund? It's so frustrating...did you ever manage to find it?
No I haven't. Is there a recon for this John Doe that I'm unaware of?

I have found his descendants online but haven’t pursued contact for obvious reasons. If anyone can find a photo please include it in his thread.

I understand why folks think he might be alive but why not let your family know for this many years? Why no contact? If he was in a halfway house of sorts and his name was on a comcast/internet contract or something could he just have continued to be registered without being at that location?

He already told his parents he was coming to see them in July. Suzanne told her family she would be home in August. So clearly they were in touch. Both never arrived home.

Why not just tell them you are gonna be away or off the grid. If his family still hasn't heard from him, I still think he is deceased and whatever happened to her happened to him also.

The detective is looking into this so maybe soon either they will be identified or listed as excluded.

Honestly, the details match up so well, I wonder if @othram could look into it.

Both were last seen in Florida, Stephen had drug issues with law enforcement, AND height and weight and everything matches them both. DOWN TO THE 10-YEAR AGE GAP between female and male.

If this isn't them, I'll eat my hat.

I would be shocked to find a better fit for possible identification, to be completely honest.
Family dynamics maybe? He got into some trouble and they ceased communication or maybe he did something to her and didn't want them looking around? Either way, hope someone gets some answers!

Nope, I wasn't able to. I was able to find her relatives still living in Black Earth Wisconsin, but nothing on him other than what has already been reported.

They removed the case from Wisconsin and put it under missing from "Florida" today
Suzanne’s profile has been updated.

I am still so curious as to wether or not these two are in fact Stephen and Suzanne.

Hopefully we find out soon.

Joan Fleischmann, "'Dungeons' may be clue to deaths," Miami Herald, 16 December 1982, 6D.

Metro-Dade police say they are investigating a possible link between the slayings of an unidentified man and woman whose skeletons were found Saturday in South Dade and a copy of a "Dungeons and Dragons" game chart found near the remains.

[...]

"It has become like a cult," Homicide Detective Luis Dabalsa said.

"Right now it's just a theory" that the advanced-players chart discovered near the skeletons is a possible clue to the double homicide, Dabalsa said. "Anything we find on the scene or in the area is important."

Police say they want to talk with some of Miami's avid players of the game to determine whether any "Dungeons and Dragons" enthusiasts are missing. They also hope to learn whether any serious players might venture into remote areas to act out their adventures.

The game chart was found in a trash pile about 150 yards from the couples' bodies. It bore pictures of a dragon, a sword-wielding man in armor, a skull and treasure chest, and rules and procedures of the game.

Dabalsa says police have no idea who the couple was, although "we are going under the theory that these people were together."

An assistant Dade medical examiner estimated that the man was between 30 and 40 years, and that the woman was from 18 to 22. They apparently were shot to death, and had been dead anywhere from two months to a year.

[...]

The only other significant piece of evidence turned up by police was a Pulsar alarm watch, found on top of the man's skeleton. The watch, Dabalsa said, was running perfectly. It was set an hour ahead - probably on daylight savings time, which ended on Oct. 30th.
I wonder if they ever looked into this Dungeons game story?

I always felt that if these two are Suzanne and Stephen, then it was just a game that was brought along during their long-distance road trip.

Oh this was during the DND panic of the 80s. Such bs. It's like saying Rock n' Roll was the cause of murders.

Agreed, such bs. It's akin to the satanic panic that was also around at the time.
