Michael Millett was killed on Monday, Jan. 13, in an attack that took place north of DeLand, Fla., the Volusia Sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Deputies reported that the dogs escaped from their owner’s property and went into Millett’s neighborhood. Investigators are now working to have the dogs euthanized, which the family is also advocating for.

Community members have expressed concerns about the accountability of the owner.

Authorities said the owner of the dogs is a 31-year-old woman. She has an extensive criminal history, primarily related to drugs, according to the sheriff. FOX 35 News is choosing not to identify the woman, as she has not been charged.

I call B.S. on that one -- a misdemeanor. The very idea.
The dogs on that day were, IMHO, just like someone had used a firearm.

Brandy Hodil was arrested overnight on a charge of tampering with evidence. She has since posted bail.

Amanda Franco now has a warrant for the same felony evidence tampering charge. She was charged with a misdemeanor earlier this week of owning a dog that was not previously declared dangerous but caused great bodily harm or death.
