Laurie Leigh Shaver, now 40, has faced charges of second-degree murder and accessory after the fact in the 2015 disappearance and death of 36-year-old Michael Shaver since her September 2020 arrest.
[...]
The defense filing, noting that “[t]hese facts were mentioned by the attorney representing the minor child,” therefore asked the judge to order the psychological or sociological evaluation of the minor child to prepare for testimony about the case. They claimed the girl “had acted out as a consequence of past, and repeated violence within the residence by Michael Shaver.” The defense also asserted that a man Laurie Shaver was dating fired a second shot at the victim.

How is this just coming up now?! This case is taking forever to be resolved. And I don’t believe this at all - IMO.

<snipped to focus on this>

You can add me to this thought. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out. I hope they have records on any correspondence between parties, ahem.

Came over to the thread to post the same - what is this craziness....
The teenage girl was 7 at the time… I feel like her mother is coercing her… IMO. Her mother, the accused, is clearly a manipulative person - for example pretending to be Michael for YEARS to his friends, family and employer, sending disgusting texts to her boyfriend’s wife as “Michael”, etc…

Poor kid has probably been brainwashed into believing whatever her mother has told her. She was 7, way to young to fully comprehend much less understand, what was happening back then. JMO

Oh no! Oh no! Please do not drag this child into this mess. I’m sorry I just can’t see a 7 year old doing this. Yes there have been instances of children accidentally killing someone with a firearm left carelessly laying around but I don’t feel like this is one of those cases.

Children want to do whatever to please their parent/s. I have seen it time and time again. Where a child will blatantly lie about something to please its parent. Example. A man I know had some of his medication stolen from his home. He had let some fairly shady characters in his home recently. He then blamed not the shady characters but his best friend. His proof. His 4 year old daughter told him that she saw the best friend do it. The best friend had not even been around the fellows house and had been at work where he had multiple witnesses. The 4 year old had a typical 4 year olds story as to what she saw. The friendship ended. A few weeks later one of the shady characters confessed to taking the medicine after he cleaned up a little and needed the guy for work.

What was learned? A child will say anything to please an upset parent. A child sees a parent ranting and raving about something and they have a desire to ‘fix’ it. To make things happy again. So what do we get? A story like this. That a 7 year old child shot the man in the back of the head. Oh and did she wrap his body in a tarp with ratchet straps and dig a hole and bury him and construct a fire pit over it? Did the 7 year old get on social media and pretend to be the man for several years? No! If it was all an accident why the elaborate cover up? Why not call 911 that day. Because it didn’t happen that way that’s why.

This new concoction Of events is ridiculous, in my opinion.

According to Laurie Shaver’s probable cause affidavit, deputies executed a search warrant at her home March 9, 2018, and a cadaver dog sniffed out human remains. Investigators located Michael Shaver’s skeletal remains wrapped in a sheet 3 feet under a concrete slab that was formerly a fire pit. Investigators believe he was killed between Nov. 7 and Nov. 10, 2015. He died from a gunshot wound to the back of the head.

Laurie allegedly posed as Michael and messaged his friends on Facebook, though some of the friends noted the responses were "unlike" Michael.

After his disappearance, Laurie Shaver allegedly claimed her husband was in Georgia and that he "left her and their kids to start a new life." Shaver, however, never reported him missing.

As the missing person investigation went on, Shaver reportedly told her boyfriend, "It’s not that he’s missing — he’s no longer walking this Earth." She also reportedly said there was a body buried on her property.

Laurie and her lawyer now claim this is not the only time there has been a gun-related incident between a child and her husband.

A motion to compel filed by Laurie's attorney reads: "THAT, further, it was brought to the attention of this court that the wife recently was involved with the present husband wherein one of the minor children armed themselves in order to protect the natural mother. While this factor was unreported in the incident report, it was, (allegedly), reported by DCF."

Perhaps a teenager today would have read sufficient social media & news to potentially realize that 7 year olds are rarely held responsible for crimes, hypothetically?

Hope the media stays with this one!

And that part about the tattoo....

I’m wondering if the mother is manipulating the daughter in an effort to get out of jail.

Hmmmm
