I wonder if the things they’re referring to as personal items could be gravesite decorations that landed near the remains as a result of wind, animals, etc.

I'm curious about the artifacts. Are they talking about ancient items associated with indian burial mounds, or objects from a later period?

Sounds like they disturbed an unmarked or unknown grave while digging a new one.

I lived in that tiny town and have visited the cemetery. It's certainly older and eerie (even for a cemetery). Following this case. Not much goes on in Moore Haven. The entire town has two traffic lights.
