TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A mother has written a book with the man serving a life sentence for killing her daughter and grandson.

In January 2005, Agnes Furey sought healing from the rage eating away at her heart and health. Two of her children had died from AIDS and sudden infant death syndrome. In March 1998, former cocaine addict Leonard Scovens strangled her daughter Patricia Reed, 40, in her Sarasota, Fla., apartment. Furey's 6-year-old grandson, Chris, hid in the closet but also was killed.

Reed met Scovens in drug treatment and they later dated after leaving the facility.

When Furey, now 75, decided to write Scovens in prison almost eight years ago, she didn't know it, but her daughter's killer was hurting, too. They slowly built a bond cemented in a need to understand each other and heal................more at link......
