When I was searching for information on the launch yesterday morning I came across some (many) posts on social media stating that this was going to be another Hollywood production, man had never been to outer space or the moon, etc etc.

There is no way Hollywood could stage a production like that 🤣

faking the moon landings would be more impressive than just landing on the moon

I’m an instructor (OSHA classes and also CPR) and the subject of fake moon landings and/or flat earth comes up more frequently in my classes than you would believe.

A lot of people out there believe the moon landings were staged.

The claim that the moon landings were faked makes me so angry.
I have a very good friend who brought up her belief in that crap while a bunch of us were heading to the beach many years ago. I thought she was just joking but I’m fairly certain she was not. She is a well educated intelligent person. We have maintained our friendship mostly by me biting my tongue, and her not bringing it up.

I've heard it as long as I can remember. Lots of people out there have a (understandable, in my opinion) huge mistrust of government & all the alphabet agencies so it makes sense they'd disbelieve any info coming from them.

If somehow it were proven it was all staged, it really wouldn't surprise me much but I prefer to believe it happened. I'm sure there are also people that said yesterday's launch was faked too, lol. Oh well, to each his own I guess.

the thing is, the hardest part of getting to the moon is getting from the launch pad to low-earth orbit. millions of people watched those launches in person. there's just no way to fake that.

once you're in space, the engineering challenges and fuel requirements are almost trivial compared to first part. it's like watching someone bench press 300 lbs, and then being Very Skeptical they can bench 305 when you're not looking.

Artemis II is on its journey: Four astronauts blasted off from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Wednesday evening on a monumental 10-day mission to circumnavigate the moon.

What’s happened so far: Earlier, an issue was reported with the only toilet onboard the Orion capsule but was resolved before the crew slept for a few hours. The astronauts woke up and performed some routine operations before going back to sleep until 1 p.m. ET. Prior to getting some more shut-eye, astronaut Christina Koch commented on the spectacular views of Earth: “You guys look great.”

The Artemis II crewed lunar mission launches at Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, on April 1.

• Why this mission matters: The historic and risky lunar venturewill mark the first time astronauts return to the vicinity of the moon in more than 50 years. The mission could travel farther from Earth than any human ever has, breaking the Apollo program’s distance record.

lol, how on earth do those come up in OSHA and CPR classes?

anyway, if flat-earthers are out there, there's going to be people who believe pretty much anything. as a late relative of mine used to say, "takes all kinds of people to make a world"

healthy skepticism is one thing. assuming conspiracies is something else. i think people who are inclined to do the second one often kid themselves and think they're doing the first.

It has been interesting to listen to CAPCOM communications today. First with the water issue, bagging up some water as a contingency. and then the issue with the GoPro packs regarding memory issues, and then also mentioning there was equipment that the astronauts didn't even know they had on board. Weird.

I think I held my breath for at least a couple of minutes. That was incredible.

Me, too.

Due to what happened with Columbia and Challenger, I had concerns.

But . . . I'm glad they're in orbit.

May they safely make it back to Earth.

In the meantime, I'll watch their "doings" with interest.

JMVHO.
