As the tight-knit community of Osceola County, Florida mourns last week’s brutal murder of Nicole Montalvo, Sheriff Russ Gibson is left wondering if and how the justice system failed the young mother and longtime victim of domestic violence.

The state of the body, he said, is in one of the worst conditions he has ever seen and the cause of death is still yet to be determined.

“I’m so angry what these people have done to this sweet woman, at a time in her life when she felt as though she had finally broken free (from the relationship) and was so happy to have made her first month’s rent,” Gibson told Fox News in an exclusive interview on the case. “Many times, victims of domestic violence don’t know how to break free, but she was out there on her own getting it done. Now she is dead.”

According to Gibson, the remains – which are still being examined by the coroner – were "disassembled", and the situation so far marks the worst he has seen in his 32 years as a homicide detective and sheriff.

We also learned Nicholas Rivera was not alone when Marshals caught up with him. He's awaiting extradition from GA

Gibson said [Wanda] Rivera was “emotional” after her arrest and was not cooperating with authorities, according to Fox News.

Rivera’s arrest comes less than a week after her son, Montalvo’s estranged husband Christopher Otero-Rivera, 31, and 61-year-old Angel Luis Rivera, the estranged husband’s father, were charged with premeditated murder.

Another of Rivera’s sons, Nicholas Rivera, 28, was arrested on Friday on 8 counts of child and is now considered an additional “person of interest” in Montalvo’s murder, Osceola County Sheriff Russ Gibson said at a press conference Monday.

He said he ran away after suffering years of abuse at the hands of his father, Angel Rivera.

“He’s very, very physically volatile,” he said. “He would beat me so badly that I could not even go to school or walk.”

I wonder if he was living with his father and mother or where his mother is.
I am still waiting to see if more victims of AR come forward.

I do wonder after reading about this situation and how AR pressed the victims for photos, whether there is some tie to child here that is organised?

If you recall from one of my previous posts, the public defender that was originally assigned to this case filed a motion to withdraw due to conflict (same public defender as Christopher). The Judge finally reassigned a new attorney on the 13th.

According to the American court system - beating a spouse doesn't make you a bad parent - which is pure insanity in my mind. So many victims of DV have to hand their child over to the abuser time and time again knowing full well that the child is not a human being to the abuser, but property/an object/a proxy to use to continue the abuse of Mom.

One of the men who is a person of interest in an Osceola County mother's murder bonded out of the Osceola County Jail overnight.

Nicholas Rivera, 28, was booked into the Osceola County Jail Tuesday after he was arrested in Georgia earlier this month on child charges.
