Here's the story about the bathtub and has embedded video of the woman attorney breaking down today.

Her tears are coming a little too late. So they had professionals telling them it would be detrimental to remove them from a person they are terrified of and who is torturing them.
How about using a little, just a little common sense.
WHY DO THEY WANT THEM TO BOND WITH SOMEONE LIKE THIS ?

Why didn't she cry when Nubia told her about getting hit on the bottom of her feet ? Who the heck does that ?

Florida child welfare administrators are fixing those lapses that they can correct quickly — and studying those they can’t — in the wake of the grisly death of a 10-year-old twin last month.

David Wilkins, the Department of Children & Families’ newly appointed secretary, told reporters Wednesday morning the agency is moving quickly to correct agency missteps that might have contributed to the death of Nubia Barahona, and the severe injury of her twin brother, Victor. Some lapses, Wilkins said, will require greater study and already are being investigated by a review panel Wilkins appointed last month.

Among the early reforms: Administrators in Miami now are sending electronic copies of all child abuse and neglect reports that suggest criminal wrongdoing immediately to local law enforcement agencies, said both Wilkins and Jacqui Colyer, the agency’s top Miami administrator. Before Nubia’s death, the department sent such referrals to police in weekly “batches,’’ Colyer said.

I have doubts that they send "weekly batches". More cover up. They're suggesting the allegations against the Barahona's would have been reported the next week.

They were concerned that the children were never attach to another adult if removed from the adoptive parents despite reports of abuse? Well the girl is now dead so she doesn't have to attach to anyone. Although I doubt that's what DCF was going for when they left the kids there.

It's sad because their lapses aren't a shock to me anymore. It's important that their glaring mistakes are exposed. I don't see much point to their existence.

Two days before Nubia Barahona’s decomposed body was found in the flatbed of her adoptive father’s pickup, a man called Florida child welfare workers expressing alarm that the girl seemed to have vanished.

When the father was asked about Nubia’s whereabouts, he said she was with her mother. But when the mother was asked where Nubia was, she replied with the father.

It was the second call to the abuse hotline about Nubia in 48 hours, and the 10th abuse report over Nubia’s 10-year lifespan.

Like the other pleas, this one was met with little urgency.

'Barahona Relief Act' bills would limit monetary awards for abuse victims

Outraged critics are calling it the Barahona Relief Act: Twin bills winding through Tallahassee that would cap damages in lawsuits brought against private groups overseeing the care of foster children, regardless of negligence.

"It's appalling," said Howard Talenfeld, a South Florida attorney who sued the state in two landmark cases - especially coming on the heels of questions raised about how the Department of Children and Families and its private contractor handled the abuse of Nubia and Victor Barahona

The proposals also would shield the Florida Department of Children and Families from lawsuits filed against private companies hired by the state to place foster children in homes. No lawsuit has been filed in the Barahona case

Our Kids, which inspected the Barahonas' home several times and provided data used to craft the bill, said that the legislation will remove a hurdle to staying in business: sharply rising insurance liability costs. Only a handful of insurers write policies to such groups, Our Kids spokeswoman Kadie Black said.

Our Kids received government grants worth $100 million in 2009. The non-profit has not been turned down for insurance, she said, but premiums have risen by 64 percent to $191,663 since 2009

This just make me sick. If this bill passes it will give a pass to all the incompetent social workers out there.

It outrages me that the same private company that did home studies for the Barahona's also helped draft this bill.

The lobbyist they hired - Ron Book - has his hands in a lot of "shady" things down here. He was the one that was helping the RSO's in Miami that were living in cardboard boxes under the overpasses down there.

And, now, with the other two little children in Delray..........We don't know yet if DCF was ever involved with this family but down the road I think we are going to find out that they were and did nothing.

I also saw another article yesterday that some psychologist had reported that both V and Nubia had said a few years back that they had contemplated suicide!

Court keeps lid on some Nubia records

At an emergency hearing Wednesday afternoon, Circuit Judge Maria Sampedro-Iglesia ordered that transcripts detailing a teacher and principal’s concerns about the welfare of Nubia Barahona in her foster home be kept out of the public eye.

Wednesday’s ruling was made at a hearing for which court administrators provided no notice. Sampedro-Iglesia ordered the transcripts “shall be confidential and shall not be released to the public.”

The ruling means an independent review panel, appointed by Department of Children & Families Secretary David Wilkins to review missteps in the case, won’t hear the testimony. The panel meets for the third time on Thursday.

Sampedro-Iglesia, who presides over unified family court, had just been appointed to the case Wednesday. Judge Cindy Lederman — who had ordered the release of thousands of pages of foster care records after the 2002 disappearance of 5-year-old Rilya Wilson — was tossed from the case by the administrative judges.

Transparency - FAIL!

Press Conference Miami DCF offices 3-2-11

<<SNIPPED>>

I want to thank former U.S. Attorney Roberto Martinez, former Miami Herald publisher David Lawrence and Dr. Jim Sewell for their service to this community and the state as the members of the Barahona Investigative Team.

They have proven their devotion to making sure this tragedy does not pass into history without substantial learning and changes.

My leadership directive to the Department is to be fully transparent in all we do. We owe that to the taxpayers and we have an employee base that has faith in their mission and confidence in their decision making.

During the week of March 15, I will present to you our report on this investigation.

Much more support of his staff (and blah, blah, blah) at LINK. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

And cover-up ramps up into full gear. Now they are finding out just HOW BAD they FAILED these children and the CYA gets stronger. Throwing out judges rulings. Not allowing important, relevant testimony to be seen by their "Blue Ribbon Panel". It doesn't stop.

The article about the bill I posted the other day shows you they are now worried about the lawsuits and the "payouts" for their failures. Can't have that now can we?

Welcome to my world!!!!! :banghead:

The corrpution is so rampant in South Florida its truly disgusting. We've had two school board members go to prison for accepting bribes and pandering to the HUGE construction companies to build schools we didn't need - all the while laying off teachers and cutting individual schools budgets.

This is SOP. Cover up - deflect - point fingers elsewhere - excuse after excuse after excuse after excuse........

The corruption goes so high up they can get judges removed and new "sympathetic" judges put in their place - they can vacate court rulings on a whim - they can publicly appoint "Blue Ribbon Panels" to "look into" matters then decide just what that panel will be told. It never ends.

My god this is horrible... what is the point of the panel if they don't get to see everything?? THey cannot make an accurate decision without all the pertinant facts!!!

Just like the psychologist in the twin's case.
