Parents of abused Orlando boy plotted to call him a liar in jailhouse calls, prosecutors say

Medical examiners recorded numerous injuries on the boy in the areas he said he was hit, handcuffed or tied down and made to escape. Repeated trauma to his head could result in permanent brain injury and mental health issues, they wrote.

I think of this little boy a lot. Hunger is something that really bothers me when it comes to children.

Years ago we were in an adoption group. A couple spoke about 2 little girls they adopted from Russia. They were about aged 6 & 9, sisters so sweet and cute. The first meal when they arrived was a family cookout. The youngest little girl ate 7 hotdogs. And loved them so much, that was what she wanted all the time. Of course they didn’t let her, they gave her a good healthy assortment of food.

I can only imagine how much food this little guy can consume in one sitting. How stunted was his growth from lack of nutrition. He will go into a huge growth spurt over the next 5 years. Thank goodness he survived and will have his needs met.

I suspect children from these type situations hoard food and will always worry about where their next meal is coming from.

There was a little boy in the school I worked in that was adopted from Russia,he was 18 months old when he arrived with his new family. He was 4 when he started school and he still had such a bad relationship with food, he would literally just keep on eating. He would take food from the other children's plates if they turned away from them and he would scavenge in the bins. It was heartbreaking to think about how hungry he must have been when he was a baby still in the orphanage that the memory of it was still driving him to look for food whenever and wherever he could even though he was a happy very much loved and well cared for little boy in his new home. He was a tiny little thing too and looked malnourished even though he wasn't anymore.

Oh, there was an angel disguised as a waitress at that Mrs. Potato that day, wasn't there? And those parents just happened to stop there, and thank goodness.
There's no telling how much torture and possible death she averted by noticing that poor sweet child at her table that day.

2/17/21 Update: Wilson called Swann from jail Jan. 21, according to court records. He told her he had a great defense and, if their stories matched, they could clear their names by showing their son has a history of telling lies. Wilson later told Swann he would “make up s---” if that’s what it took to get her kids back, prosecutors wrote in a recent court filing. New details have emerged since the couple’s arrest in early January, prompting the state to press additional charges against Wilson & Swann and persuade a judge to increase their bond & prevent the two from communicating. Swann bonded out of jail a second time after she was re-arrested Tuesday for additional charges of aggravated child abuse, child abuse & failure to report child abuse. In recorded jail phone calls to one another, according to a motion filed by prosecutors, Wilson assured Swann that he has “a great defense” & told her not take a plea deal, otherwise it would hurt his case.
