So LE has not announced who the victim is, apparently because Marsy's Law was invoked.
I've had a quick look (definitely not detailed) at that victim's rights law, but I'm not sure how withholding the name of the homicide victim in this case is relevant.

Some media are running with the implied victim's name and the victim was named in the probable cause document. So why isn't LE naming the victim in the media?

ETA: improved wording

Paraphrased from the probable Cause document relating to Brandon's arrest:

BL's sister and BIL told police that Brandon was under a lot of stress (dispute with [redacted]; in process of being disbarred; loss of baby; in process of divorce). He had also previously made comments that he had obtained a gun and that it would be better if [redacted] was dead.

The sister and BIL spoke with BL on the phone a few hours after he allegedly shot PL and he sounded very calm, unlike his normal voice where he usually sounds like he is under the influence of unknown substances. He told them he didn't commit the crime and didn't even own a gun. After the phone call he texted his sister, asking them about getting together socially the next day so that they could meet his cat. (!!)

With all of the evidence collected so far I don't know how BL thought he would get away with it.

UPDATE: 5:31 P.M.: BocaNewsNow.com has learned that an attorney for Brandon Labiner instructed Labiner to sign a form stating that he was a U.S. Attorney, Federal Judge, or Federal Magistrate Judge to prevent law enforcement from releasing his booking photo. There is no indication that Labiner ever was a United States Attorney, Federal Judge, or Federal Magistrate Judge. Labiner is currently a disbarred attorney in State of Florida. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, which oversees the jail, apparently accepted the form at face value. We have reached out Mr. Labiner’s Attorney, Val Rodriquez, for clarification. He did not respond to our request. We have obtained the form signed and filed.

I wonder how much trouble his attorney would get in for this? that seems...very bad?(but I am not American, so not sure how serious things like that are taken)
Thank you for sharing the PCA, reading that is certianly convincing that they have the right man. His poor mother, robbed by her child, on top of losing money, and now her husband killed by him?

BL's wife would be named in the initial complaint - community property state I assume. Standard is to list the spouse at first and dismiss down the line for cause or not

(I should have known people would have made the Murdaugh comparison long before I got here and thought the same thing.)

I wonder if the victim's wife (or other family member) invoked Marsy's Law. I noticed that the probable cause document has redacted the name and relationship of the family member that found the victim. PL's name wasn't redacted though.

I'm local to this case and some of the local reporting has been posted here. It sounds like they have this guy dead to rights. What a guy, stealing $ and killing your father over it. The legislature just changed the laws regarding the death penalty here, the jury only has to vote 8-4 for the DP for the convict to be put to death. I would not be surprised if Brandon gets it.

His normal voice sounds like he's under the influence of unknown substances?? It sounds like BL has been a problem for a while.

Here is the Daily Beast article from yesterday. It just goes over the details of the Probable Cause document and mentions the invocation of Marsy's Law, indicating the family has requested privacy.

Florida Lawyer Texted Sister To ‘Meet His Cat' After Fatal Shooting: Docs

Also, they mention that he stole money from his stepmother. So I believe that PL's wife isn't Brandon's mother.
