This guy's only 33 years old, has a criminal record involving sexual contact with an underage boy, and he's a principal at a Christian school? This is insane.

You can contact the school directly and tell them what you think.

Schools negotiate with sex offenders now? I know there’s a teacher shortage but seriously???? The school didn’t fingerprint him, run a background check, talk to references???

Prophet resigned from the Marion County School District after being put on leave in 2019.

Prosecutors negotiated a plea deal with Prophet and he pleaded guilty to the downgraded charge of attempting to interfere with the custody of a child.

He was an administer at our (public) school during the 2018 incident. The victim attended his church. He was let go immediately and the school was proactive about it, imo.

They did not have hard evidence to charge SA. He got 5 months probation for "interfering with child custody".

The church associated with that "academy" is different than the one he previously attended. It is also noteworthy that he legally changed his last name from Lopez to Prophet in 2013. He is a very charismatic and smooth talked his way into the new job. Probably a personal friend who believed in "second chances" or a stranger. Since he wasn't convicted, its not on his background. I also sadly admit he never gave off red flags (that I saw).

I tried to use this as an example of why everyone fleeing our public schools to the "superior" safety and curriculum of private schools.

I also think the second school was more of an alternative school for kids who had been expelled from the public system. We have a few alternative schools, and a lot gets swept under the rug because who is going to listen to the "bad" kids?

I'm confused here. Destiny Academy is the school for the "bad kids"?
