Anyone familiar with drug usage - would it be plausible that he would strip down and have the capability of thinking to throw his stuff away if he were on something, like LSD? If his stuff had been found randomly on the beach, I could make more sense of it, but not all of his stuff being found in a trash can. Makes me think someone was trying to get rid of his stuff.

Also, have they said his clothes are part of the "personal belongings", or just his wallet, cell phone, etc?

this is slightly OT but the statement from the family makes it sound like someone can not be both studious and use/dabble in drugs.

If the LSD story is true, then him removing his clothes and possessions and throwing them away does not seem too far-fetched. If he was expressing suicidal thoughts (as alleged) he may have figured he didn't need any possessions.

Or, if he were on a "trip" he may have had a revelation that "hey man, we don't need THINGS in life, man. All we need is each other. I am throwing all this junk away."

But then, where is he? Not to be too graphic or depressing, but if he had gone into the water to drown himself, his body would been found, or will be shortly IMO.

Well shoot, if they have his phone they should obviously be able to trace the last incoming/outgoing calls. Kids his age don't go ANYWHERE without their phones -- I mean, they're life (even for someone in their 30s like me LOL).

Also, the ocean is the WORST place for someone to disappear around. No one ever finds the body!!! Cases like this are so frustrating! Hopefully he is alive and well and just recovering from a bad trip, but if he isn't, he's probably half way to North Carolina via the Atlantic Ocean!!!

Actually, they almost always find the body when someone drowns in the ocean by me. It happens at least 2-3 times each year. Maybe more often than that. The tide usually brings the body to the beach. Sometimes, it takes a day or two.

I believe him and a couple of his friends had taken LSD and he probably overdosed. The friends didn't want to get in trouble for taking it too so they hid the body and threw away his clothes to make it seem like something mysterious had happened. All of his "friends" left PCB awfully fast.

I believe he probably did take LSD, which elevates the body temperature extremely high, hence taking off the clothes. He went into the water and swam as far as he could. I live on the East Coast of Fl. The Gulf is different, but still has tides. Most bodies was in in two days, but some are never found, without becoming graphic about what can happen in the ocean. My question is, why did the "friends" leave so early instead of staying behind to help find him? Unless they knew what happened to him or they're hiding something...

I wondered too, but maybe the families demanded they come home.

Unfortunately, this reminds me all too much of Brittanee Drexel. Hopefully, they find Reny and his family doesn't have to search for answers to his disappearance for years. :please:

Reminds me more of Lauren Spierer...

It's almost impossible to overdose on LSD. It has a LD50 of 12mg when a "hit" = appx. 100 micrograms

I clearly don't know anything about LSD; thanks for clearing that up.

A friend of mine dropped acid for three straight days, and I saw him shaking on the sofa one morning. He was in no danger of dying, but his nerves and mind were a mess. Don't forget that you can go in and out of "zones" where you may fixate on something or hallucinate. When I say hallucinate, I don't mean that you see pink elephants where there are none. But you may see a large pink blotch of sun reflecting off the water, and you may perceive it to be a pink elephant. Some people comment that they see things melting. Like the ceiling. It's entirely possible that someone would fixate on the water and think it looks incredible with the moon's reflection and wade out into the surf only to realize too late that the water is deep and has a strong outgoing current. But I would expect the body to be discovered within 48 hours of a drowning. Another possibility is that the guy decided to go on a boat ride. He could be stranded in the Gulf.

Maybe it cost them $$ to stay where they were.

The way I read it, I thought they planned to stay longer for spring break but when their friend went missing they decided to just bail on spring break and go home. I could be wrong though, I usually am. heh.

Yes, shades of Brittanee Drexel and Lauren Spierer...

The problem with college spring break-- there are so many opportunities for accidental deaths. And as we have seen, sometimes people try to cover up accidental deaths for fear of getting in trouble and leave a family in agony missing their loved one.

This is a random thought and I have no special reason to believe this could have happened to Reny, but I am willing to bet there are plenty of intoxicated drivers in PCB during spring break season. Could he have been hit? Especially if he was 'tripping' (or whatever you call it) and acting unpredictably/walking in the street. Someone could have stripped him of the identifying items he was wearing/carrying and then disposed of the body elsewhere?

Ugh. I hope he is found safe, but I don't have a great feeling about this one...

I think that they should take a close look at his 20 friends. Nothing adds up.
