WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Acting on what Police Chief Gary Hester said was a 'very reliable' tip, Winter Haven police will begin digging in an orange grove Wednesday morning to find a girl who has been missing since October 2009.

Police believe they will find the body of the Ronkeya Holmes and her 3-year-old baby, Masaraha Ross.

Winter Haven Police, the Polk Sheriff's Office and the FDLE searching a Winter Haven orange grove for a missing mother and daughter have uncovered a shallow grave with skeletal remains.

Police say they cannot confirm if the tip came from Ross, but do say Lester Ross is a person of interest.

Lester Ross was in jail in Polk County, Florida on charges of grand theft and child support violations, but bonded out Tuesday night.

While there is no absolute i.d., I think most of believe the bones found are of
Ronkeya and Masaraha.

I have followed this case closely.
And while I am relieved they are found, I am just sad
that it came to this. I am mad that it came to this.

I think of Ronkeya's mom and sister. They came to FL to try and find them.

I see that he bonded out on Tuesday (Dec 21) and that was for the charges of grand theft and child support violations.

I am reading this as Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010. He bonded out on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010.

Ross had been released after his arrest last week, but he has since been located and re-arrested, this time on an unrelated charge of witness tampering. Ross is currently in police custody

What a ...I do hope he can be charged with capital murder which carries the DP, much like what ICA is facing...this is so tragic and so senseless but I'm sure he didn't want to pay child support..When Ronkeya started to ask questions about their child, he set up a meet and murdered her as well. I don't believe for one moment this was an accident...JMHO

Bittersweet....I'm glad they were found so they can both have a proper burial. I'm also glad his wife stepped up, even as her life was threatened. At least she had a conscience...JMHO

My heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of these victims...

This just makes me so sad. To think of that poor baby apparently murdered and put in a freezer. To think of her poor mother trying to get her baby back and then being killed herself. Deeply distressing. What kind of person can do these things? Prayers for the family.
