FL FL - Royal Palm Beach, WhtFem Skeletal 12UFFL, 20-40, in woods, Dec'87 - Pati Lisa Loguercio Rust

Based on a possible yearbook photo that, IMO, looks a lot like her, listed as "P Loguercio," Pati was born in/around 1960, making her about 24 at the time of her death (Based on the last known record of her).

The yearbook photo is from New York, though I did some research and her father was from the state.

@othram is there any way you can confirm if this is Pati?
I came across the same photo - yes, I believe it's her. Her brother still lives in NYC (not Queens) and he's around the same age.

I do see some resemblance between the two. I can't tell, but it seems Pati did have a slight turn in her nose.

For the decades since, all investigators could tell was the victim was a woman, likely in her 20s or 30s, and she ended up listed with other victims in the Unidentified Human Remains case files, the sheriff’s office continued. Since the time it was listed in 2005, no new leads ever surfaced. That is, until the grant came from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement last year to conduct Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy on unidentified remains.

Having identified Rust, investigators determined she likely lived somewhere near Lauderdale by the Sea, in Broward County, during the late 1980s.

In an email Tuesday, deputies said the woman has been identified as Pati Rust, who is believed to have last lived in the area of Lauderdale by the Sea in Broward County in the late 1980s.

Spokesman Teri Barbera said a homicide investigation is beginning.

Last year, the Cold Case Unit was awarded a grant from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to use Forensic Genetic Geneology for these cases. The unit partnered with Othram of Woodlands, Texas, where the victim was identified.

The company works with DNASolves, which combines crowdfunding, volunteered data and cutting-edge genomics to solve "unsolvable" cases.

According to the site, "Othram scientists used Forensic-Grade Genome Sequencing® to build a comprehensive DNA profile for the unknown woman. Othram’s in-house genealogy team used the DNA profile in conjunction with forensic genetic genealogy to produce new investigative leads, which were returned to investigators.

"Using these new leads, a follow-up investigation was conducted, leading investigators to relatives of the unidentified woman. "

While the timeline matches up, I have confirmation this photo is not of Pati. They did live in the NY area in the 1970s, but this isn't her.

I found Pati's actual yearbook photos. These can be confirmed to be of her. Unfortunately, the yearbook she'd have a full photo in isn't available.
