Identified! FL - Volusia Co., WhtFem Skeletal UP923, 25-40, in woods near I-95, Apr'90 - Roberta “Bobbie” Lynn Weber

There are a number of potential matches which I found for this Jane Doe, but I think Misty Michelle Mock is by far the strongest, both in terms of physical resemblance to the reconstruction and the circumstances.

Misty's nose, lips, hairline, eye placement, and brow bone are nearly exact matches to Jane Doe. Her jawline also looks very similar to the Jane Doe.

She was approximately 5 months pregnant at the time of her disappearance, which means she would have given birth sometime around October or November 1989. Southern Georgia, which was her last known location, is also not far from Ormond Beach -- although we don't know where exactly in southern GA Mock was arrested, by way of example, Brunswick, GA (on the Atlantic coast) is only a 2.5-hour drive from Ormond Beach, FL.

Misty Michelle Mock - #MP842
Missing From: Tacoma, WA
Missing Age: 22
DLC: April 1, 1989
Height: 4'11" - 5'0" (59 - 60 inches) [MATCH to the UID's NamUs height]
Hair Color: Brown [MATCH]
Eye Color: Blue [MATCH]
Circumstances: Mock led a transient lifestyle in 1989, which included alcohol usage and occasional prostitution. She moved to Texas with her boyfriend sometime in April 1989, then apparently traveled to Florida a few weeks later.

Mock's last known location was in southern Georgia, where she was arrested for public intoxication on June 1, 1989. The arresting officer stated that she was approximately five months pregnant at that time.

She disappeared after being released from custody and has never been heard from again. She is originally from Tacoma, Washington; that city's authorities are handling her investigation. (per Charley Project)

Ahh I see a resemblance! Submit it. I just hope you find someone that checks into it unlike I contacted back in 2020 for the the possible match w/ Martinina McCoy.

The NamUs program coordinator got back to me and let me know that NamUs staff will review it and forward it to LE for comparison.

Volusia County deputies said they were able to reconstruct the victim’s family tree using data from public genealogical sites. Using DNA they were able to identify the woman as Roberta “Bobbie” Lynn Weber.

When deputies contacted Weber’s sister in Missouri, she said she hadn’t seen her Weber since 1989. She said Weber, whose maiden name was Headley, divorced her husband in 1989 and disappeared. Her sister told deputies she believed Weber was either dead or living in California.

Detectives said they also identified and contacted three of Roberta Weber’s children, who also said they hadn’t seen their mother since 1989

Bet you I know who investigators are going to want to talk to first (if possible).

On another subject, there is something I am curious about. When the very lifelike reconstruction was done she was given blue eyes. Her photo shows that she has brown to dark brown eyes as do the overwhelming majority of human beings on this planet including white people. Why are brown eyes not the default on a reconstruction when eye color is unknown? Just curious.

It could be there’s more ethnic info available than what is published. The artist may be given that info to help them create a composite drawing.

Brown eyes are not always dominate in our family. Me, my children’s father and both our daughters have different eye colors. I have yellow (Czech), he has dark brown (Scottish), oldest has green, youngest has blue. So either we broke every eye color rule, or there’s some strong recessive genes!

No, for sure if there is information available on ethnicity you could make a much more educated guess. I guess I was going under the assumption that they did not have that info when the reconstruction was made. My thought is if like 80% of the world has some shade of brown eyes that should probably be the default color especially when ethnicity is unknown.
I actually just googled it and apparently 27% of the population of the U.S. has blue eyes. I must admit that I would have not ever guessed that...that's about triple the number I would have guessed .

NamUs has just updated this case. Am I missing something or, I'm getting everything wrong?! Thought our JD had been identified...

Could have been based on other factors at the time?

BTW: We're Middle Eastern. Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and Uncle all from Southern Anatolia (modern day Turkey) have blue eyes. So do I, but I'm only 1/2.

And if 27% of the US has blue eyes and you remove Black, Latino and Asian Americans, that percentage jumps to about 37%

Wow. This is very interesting: About half of Americans born at the turn of the 20th century had blue eyes! Blue eyes are increasingly rare in America - Americas - International Herald Tribune (Published 2006)
