Even though there is an article (The Miami Herald, May 13, 1984) with extensive information on these young men and their drug use, I really do not feel comfortable sharing it. What I will say relative to the date of their disappearance is that that they arrived at Monty Trainer's and were shouting obscenities and basically refused service. They apparently ran out of gas and paddled the boat to the Amoco at Broad Causeway. The boat did not have lights and was "crippled" with engine trouble - soon thereafter the weather turned bad with rain, waterspouts, and 15' waves within two days.

Oh gosh, it sounds like a calamity of errors, bad weather and poor decisions. It doesn’t sound like that weather was survivable, particularly in a boat.
