The Manatee county Sheriff has been very quiet about this case. This is new to me. "According to the probable cause affidavit, detectives found the victim's blood in her apartment along with Cumber's blood. They also found evidence someone tried to clean that blood up."

The boyfriend

In 2005, William Cumber III came into the Buehlers’ lives out of nowhere. He walked up to Haley’s and asked Thomas Buehler for a job, saying he had just gotten out of prison.

Buehler said he liked Cumber at first and put him to work at the motel.

But Cumber left much of his past out of the picture he painted for Buehler. He previously had been convicted and served jail time for domestic violence, marijuana possession and battery on a law enforcement officer. He lasted only four days on the Haley’s job, finding himself behind bars for setting fire to his girlfriend’s house.

New search under way for body of Anna Maria businesswoman Sabine Musil-Buehler

Investigators had searched the Gulf side of Anna Maria Island previously for Musil-Buehler's body. Drawing new conclusions from evidence, investigators decided to search an undeveloped plot on the bay side off of South Bay Boulevard, he said.

"Last week we were out there with the dogs and got a couple hits," Bristow said.

In previous beach searches, cadaver dogs have indicated detections but no body was found.

They’ve been digging in an open lot off of South Bay Boulevard for a week now.

Homicide Detective John Kenney said they decided to look through this area after six search and rescue cadaver dogs indicated there was something there. He said he hopes it turns up something.

“If any evidence was buried with her, braces, maybe jewelry, maybe a cell phone, anything we could tie into the homicide investigation,” said Kenney.

“There is a lot of evidence, but I really want to find her body. Six years I’ve been on this case and it bugs me. But we got some leads from the newspaper story about the Fiske property search,” Kenney said. “We’ll never give up looking.”

Kenney said the search of Fiske’s property came after examination of cellphone records, but he declined to elaborate.

“We’re still investigating. This is an open case,” he said. “We’re not stopping, and we’re still asking the public to call us if they saw anything suspicious that night of Nov. 4.” Kenney said it may be an easy date to remember for people, because it was election night across the country and Barack Obama won the presidency.

Over six years after the disappearance of Sabine Musil-Buehler, a well-known businesswoman who lived in Holmes Beach, her ex-boyfriend is slated to stand trial Feb. 23 for her presumed death...

William Cumber, her boyfriend, was charged with second-degree murder in October 2012 although investigators were never able to recover her body. Traces of her blood found in her car and apartment were among the evidence that led to Cumber being charged with second-degree murder...

"There is a lot of physical evidence," Kenney said.

They will continue searching for her body on Friday.

http://www.bradenton.com/news/local/crime/article39269784.html

The excavation for the remains of Sabine Musil-Buehler will resume Friday morning, after her boyfriend admitted in court Thursday to murdering the Anna Maria Island resident and business owner.

Musil-Buehler's stepson was among those on the beach Thursday watching as sheriff's investigators searched for Musil-Buehler's body.

"The Buehler family is just happy," stepson Eric Buehler said outside Haley's Motel, which his family still owns. "It's grief and relief."

The stepson and Debbie Akins, a long-time employee of the hotel, were brought out near where Cumber told investigators he buried Musil-Buehler underneath the metal pavilion.

"We have stood where she was," he said in shock. "I've been there with my kids even."

His father is doing OK, after hearing that Cumber finally confessed and told detectives where his wife's body is, Eric Buehler said.

"She can finally be given a proper memorial," he said, adding they are taking it one day at a time for now.

From October:

http://www.bradenton.com/news/local/crime/article40817217.html

On Oct. 15, Cumber pleaded no contest to second-degree murder in the death of the Anna Maria Island resident, who was last seen Nov. 4, 2008. As part of a plea agreement, the judge ruled she would sentence him to 20 years in prison.

After his plea, Cumber gave Manatee County Sheriff's Office detectives a detailed confession on how he struck Musil-Buehler twice and then choked her to death.
