Owen is confusing manipulation with placating. Clearly, not the same.

Right?! He can't find the notes he wanted to read. Ugh, he's annoying.
Stay tuned because he's going to talk for at least an hour.
He may have to be picked up off the floor by then.

Am I remembering his opening was like this too? Scattered, couldn't find his notes.

I think I may have blocked it out.

Yes, yes you did! Our quintessential hero. Our VBH (Very Brave Hero) Sarah Boone. Of course.
Whoa Nellie.
Was her other ex-husband Daniel?

Opening, trial and now closing.

Well, that didn't take long - looking for his notes again, hahahahaa! Am I allowed to say "doofus" on this website?! LOL!

Watching some of this defense close, trying to remember that SB plowed through what was it - six or seven prior counsel that were apparently not agreeable to her? Ok. MOO

Whatever he says about SB applies more aptly to JT.

I dunno, this country bumpkin lawyer act may be more effective in Milton, FL than in Orlando, FL.

'Seattle, what is going on here beginning of Owens' closing??? Is this atty chess or vindictiveness?

Rarely will attorney's object during opening/closing but getting past the objections, this was Owens trying to be 'countrylike' to say the defense team and himself were treated kindly in Orange County. What this had to do with Walmart near his hometown or the distance between towns was irrelevant to this case! I think Owens probably doing some staging and testing whether or not he could provoke an objection from the prosecution. Kind of like SB. Likes to stir the pot. JMO

I'm just reading captions. His glasses on-off is he going for something dramatic? Not working IMO

Owens is rubbing me the wrong way with this sexist "little girls are born different" rant.

I wonder if the jury is feeling lectured by this bozo. The jurors are adults and shouldn't be instructed like children. I would be offended by him.

  • #674
Whoa. Sexist.

Calling women girls again.

He's making me angry.

He's been talking for 40 minutes now.

Objection - for phone use?

  • #677
Nothing factual or legal to his closing this far. Just hot air.

  • #678
Yes, it is 2024, Counselor. WOMEN shouldn't lay a hand on men either.

Poorly prepared, poorly delivered, archaic, misogynistic...

Got to love that one. Defense counsel cited / objected for attempting to read from something that might not be in evidence. Still shooting for a mistrial I wonder? SMH. Sidebar. IANAL.

Guessing now this is going to get slow walked so that defense counsel gets the last word before the weekend. MOO

Objection - for phone use?

He was trying to read out loud something that the state said is not in evidence. A statement that Abraham Moreno (the apartment maintenance guy) had given at one point.
