Isn’t that crazy? I think all the obsession and repression causes sexual dysfunction.
That's true, but it DOES NOT cause sexual abuse of any kind. It does allow perpetrators of SA to get away with it more easily.

I'm extremely interested in how this plays out regarding the confession, whatever it entailed. Will they try to suppress it? If he admitted to the acts to the dad first without a detective present, then I think that admission could potentially be used in some way outside of any conversation about whether or not he was correctly Mirandaized or anything like that. Haven't looked into the statutes yet, so this is MOO.
As a parent, it would take LE to remove my hands from his neck.
Brave girl for speaking up.

It's time Jim Bob and Michelle take a long hard look at themselves and realize they messed up.
I think they need to do some DNA tests on all those kids to see who the real father is. I'm talking about the whole family. What a disgusting group of people who look the other way when their own family members commit one of the most despicable crimes yet preach about religion. Can't stand the Duggars and their lifestyle wrapped in a cloak of religiosity. Hypocrites.

Yup. Which is what Gothard preached.
Which is unsurprising given all of the allegations against Gothard himself. The IBLP need to revamp that old 'Umbrella of Protection' graphic of theirs and be honest about who they're really protecting...

The 31-year-old, who was detained Wednesday over an alleged crime that took place in 2020, spoke out against Josh’s sexual abuse of five girls — including sisters Jill Duggar and Jessa Duggar — on a December 2015 episode of “Jill & Jessa: Counting On.”

At the time, he said, “Whenever somebody you respect the most is willing to get up and proclaim what we believe as Christians, about being true to your wife, you’d never think that that’s the person who’s involved in it.”

Sharing his surprise that Josh “was living such a secret life,” Joseph added, “It broke my heart.”
What Joseph Duggar said about brother Josh’s sex abuse crimes years before molestation arrest

 uh huh

ETA what I find most disturbing about the above isn't even that Joseph acted all holier than thou and surprised. It's that what he felt was disappointing about knowing his brother's behavior wasn't that he was molesting their sisters and collection SA material featuring CHILDREN. NO, It was that Joshua had been "untrue" to his wife. WTF?!

This in a nutshell tells me everything I need to know about how the Duggars raised their children, and how many of those children are likely raising their own. JMO

MOO is that people raise their children, doing the best that they can. When their adult children commit crime, it seems unfair to blame parents, or their
religion. As many of the other children in the family have not been accused of illegal activity. And the religion does not encourage or support any type of illegal activity.

I don't blame their religion, although others do. I blame them because the crimes began under their roof, under their own lack of supervision for their many children, that they continued to have even as their numbers far exceeded their own abilities to supervise them. And now its appearing to be not an isolated "issue" with one adult child, but involving several.

Hey Guardians,

It’s time for the next Guardian Zoom call, and we’re splitting it into two sessions so more people can join.

Friday, March 20
11:00 AM – 3:00 PM Eastern

Saturday, March 21
11:00 AM – 3:00 PM Eastern

Drop in anytime during those hours.
What will we talk about? Plenty.

You’ll get the inside scoop on what’s happening behind the scenes at Websleuths. Guardians always hear it first.

We also want to hear your wildest true-life story. And yes, I’ll be telling the story about how Dick Van Patten once saved my life. I realize that’s a tough act to follow, but I’m confident someone out there has something just as good.

And of course, we’ll cover a whole lot more.

If I recall correctly, Josh was 14 when he molested his sisters. It was then swept under the carpet by Jim Bob and Michelle. That's not good parenting imo.

I just found out about this from WS!

I was like, why is there a thread about Joseph Duggar?

I have occasionally followed the Duggars, curious about how they are doing since Josh Dugger was convicted and sent to federal prison ..... Even watched some of their shows here and there before cancellation. I actually liked how Joseph Duggar proposed to his wife Kendra on one of the shows.

So I was shocked to hear about Joe's arrest. Joe was an 18 year old ADULT abusing a child under age 12. Just disgusting to say the least.

I have no sympathy for Joe.

I am really having a hard time controlling my emotions on this one. This happened in 2020, so why is it just now coming out? (Not victim blaming, just trying to put together a time line) He's now had access to an uncountable number of little girls in the last 6 years. This family is turning out to be monsters.....and it makes me question how many others there are that haven't been outed yet.
I think the victim didn't come forward until recently. If the Father confronted Joe, then immediately went to police, that indicates he was hot under the collar. I don't get the sense he was sitting on this information for years and just now decided to act.

I was absolutely positive that there were more pedos in this family than Josh. Joseph wouldn't have been my first guess, though. Wow.

I'm honestly surprised that it's him. I don't know why. He just seemed so naive and innocent to me. I wasn't surprised at Josh's arrest.

I feel like these two brothers are just the tip of the iceberg .

I have just realized I don't know how to start a new thread. Apologies, not sure why I can't get it to work...Duggar #2.... Second Duggar son arrested: Joseph Duggar faces Florida sex abuse charges

Authorities said Joseph Garrett Duggar, 31, was taken into custody out of state and will be extradited to Bay County, Florida, where investigators say the alleged incidents occurred. Duggar is married with four children.
Maybe TLC will start another reality show on Joseph Duggar? I hope not

Over the past few years, we've seen more and more "church" people being charge with sex crimes. That is very concerning, especially with the way they push for memberships and attendance. And this, along with my own personal experience, is why I no longer attend church.

I have ZERO sympathy for anyone who abuses a child!

Looking at the churches website, it reminds me of The Way International, another cult. (But that's a conversation for another thread)

Awful allegations. It sounds like he possibly knew the victim before the incident? MOO

Yes, from these articles it shows he knew the victim because it happened over a period of days during a vacation. It sounds like his lewd behavior towards her escalated during the vacation. Trying to get her to sit by him, trying to get her to sit on his lap, he was a predator going after her, stalking/targeting her it sounds like to me.

This is a predictable and horrifying development. But if good will come from this, it is that more people will believe there is something about the cult that is dangerous, and fewer people will believe that Josh was either framed or an anomaly.

I wish the victim strength and support.

And today we have the news that Cesar Chavez, an American icon, was alleged to have molested and/or raped many young women.
Is there a general psychosis affecting all these men?
And then there's Epstein and also, the thousands of missing and probably trafficked young people.
I give up, it's too much to comprehend.
I say blow the lid off all of it, wherever it may land. This nation needs cleansing and justice needs to be done, no matter who is involved.
Sometimes molesters hide behind shields that they would never....

....because
<Modsnip: Uneccessary>

I don't know a lot about the Cesar Chavez story, but there are plenty of stories about abusive men who hide behind being progressive about women's rights.

When someone seems like it could NEVER happen, it is safer for them to offend, and harder for victims to report offenses.
