I am not defending her or her spouse. But it appears that the law is applied unequally. After all, Jana Duggar was charged, and arrested based on a child wandering off. Heck, we have seen kids out wandering around, no one gets charged and booked.

Apply the law equally to everyone.
Respectfully, I don't think we can make the claim that the law is not being applied equally as it relates to the example you shared. We'd need to know a lot more about Kendra's current charges. As it stands now, the People article mentions a source and a spokesperson. Neither identity is revealed. And the "source" is the one who said it was because of the locks on doors. Who knows if that is true... but hey, MOO

I’ve seen it mentioned but I’m not clear if they seized any devices. I wouldn’t be one bit surprised if CSAM is discovered on Joseph’s.

My guess is many family members and religious followers are removing locks.

I don't. I think they believe wholeheartedly that their practices are righteous and evil, secular outsiders don't understand their ways.
No one is going to see those locks unless they come into the home. People like that are careful about what outsiders see and don't see. IMO.

Apply the law equally to everyone.

It was a two year old who was found wandering near a highway.

Jana Duggar at first denied knowing who the child was and was uncooperative when first contacted. Play stupid games....

The Duggars are the ones who think they are above the law. They are still defending their pedo oldest son who assaulted at least 5 girls under their own roof. Multiple times. And they let him stay at home with those girls until he got married years later.

These people are scum. The total opposite of the wholesomeness they tried to portray on their TV show.

(or, for that matter, adding them.)

On the topic of religion I will say only this: religion didn't abuse children. Evil men using religion to excuse their own actions and intimidate victims did.

I do believe the household the Duggar children were raised in played a direct role in both Josh and Joe becoming child sexual abusers. And like it or not, much of how those 19 children were raised is/was rooted in a very narrow patriarchal religious viewpoint. That doesn't mean all religion is bad or the bible is bad. It just means bad men did bad things. MOO
I 100 percent agree with you here. I also want to say that it was a lack of proper supervision by JIM Bob and his wife. Children were raising an d supervising each otherr children. In early childhood development we learn that there is body exploration which in essence is normal and not sexual.Like playing g doctor or house. However, this is where parents need to intervene and talk about body parts are private and no touching others IMO these talks may not have happened to all 19 children. So as the children's age progressed as we saw with Josh, this exploration turned sexual and he molested his sisters. His brother with a child. The Huge lack of supervision by the parents could have created these abusers. Who knows some of the sisters could have abused their siblings as well . Here is an article about the psychology: Normal Sexual Development vs. Sexually Harmful/Abusive Behaviors — Safe Kids Thrive - Child Sexual Abuse Prevention
MOO and in no way am I excusing the criminal and disturbing acts of these brothers. Im just trying to understand how things went to hell in this family.

 Zero personal responsibility.
Ahh yes, throw that old Chrisitan persecution card and Chrisitans who lack discernment fall for it very time.
imo

"The insider said some relatives believe the controversy reflects long-standing warnings from patriarch Jim Bob Duggar.

'He's always said the world would be hostile to them. That following Christ means the enemy will try to attack,' they said."

They aren’t truly following Christ. They are following a cult.

sorry it's funny but not. Satan is sending people to persecute this Godly family. Just wow. you are right, Zero.

ETA this quote from the article which by contrast feels more genuine.

'It's really sobering,' says the relative. 'This is a family where modesty, purity and decency were everything. This is the opposite. It's embarrassing and horrifying, and just really, really sad.'

I’m disappointed that the relative used soft language to express their feelings.

“Horrifying,” yes, great description. But “embarrassing” and “really, really sad?” To describe a despicable crime against a 9 year old child? Nope.

Grow the heck up Duggars: stop denying your ownership in raising twisted children who abuse children. Didn’t God give you all brains to think about your actions and recognize the hurt you’re causing innocents to endure, all in his name?

Another quote from the article:

After the arrest, Josh's attorney told the Daily Mail that the charges against his brother 'deeply saddened' him.

'Josh understands the stigma of being accused,' his attorney told the Daily Mail.

'He lives with the painful reality of how false accusations can destroy a life. He understands how the targeting of a person for publicity can twist the truth into sensationalized fiction.'

I understand your feelings and I do not disagree, but I found the quote I shared much less offensive than the 💩 that came from Josh's attorney. And I took the unnamed relative to mean it was embarrassing to be associated with relatives who present themselves as the pinnacles of purity and decency and yet are now (again) facing this sort of allegations.

I hear you and agree that at least one Duggar relative isn’t blaming satan.

However, I would have loved to read a better quote like “I’m just really, really sad that an innocent child was hurt and I pray for her healing.” They wouldn’t even need to point a finger at Joseph.

KWIM?

“Thinking about the victim who was brave enough to share her story has been heartbreaking," Jeremy said. "Just the effect on that young person’s life is unimaginable. And then to see the ripple effect of that horrific crime, just across the board, it just has so many damaging, rippling effects. I think that’s been, for me, the forefront of my mind, is just thinking — the horror of a crime like that affecting so many for so many years. It’s devastating to think about.”

"You can't be prepared for news like this, even though we've experienced something very similar before, with one of my other siblings, who made unthinkable choices, decisions that have affected all of us," Jinger said on the podcast. "And yet the pain and hurt that's caused to us, but then to so many others, is just so hard. It's hard to know what to do sometimes, moving forward. You just feel the weight of it."

Yes! Thank you @tlcya! I was looking for more empathy towards the victim. IMO the focus shouldn’t be only on Joseph and Kendra, good or bad. We don’t need a named victim, just an acknowledgment of the crime.
