VERY OT

Why is it when grandmas come to visit, do they make DELICIOUS smelling chocolate chip cookies at 9pm?

I shouldn't eat them this late, and lord the kids?

Gotta Love Grandmas though :)

So what ever happened to SB's house being surrounded? That is driving me crazy!

Saw on other unnamed sites that this was just a rumor. I've yet to see it confirmed on via the media.

I think this is new:

News 13 has learned that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is taking tire prints on a grey Toyota Sienna van at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office… but they will not tell us if it is related to the case. Neighbors like Glenn Taylor say they saw a grey van around 9:30 the morning Shannon was reported missing: “We left at about 9:15 and the driveway’s not too wide. And there was a gray van coming in which we know come over here and so we had to stop and let them get around. And then when we come back, that’s when all the officers was here.”

I just wanted to add quick, I wouldn't put toooooo much thought into Shannon's serious expression. We've only seen two recent pictures of her and Good Lord if anyone ever saw pictures of my son, you'd think he was the most miserable child on the face of the earth. He's only 4 but I guess he's "too cool" to smile in pictures already. Then again, he is nicknamed "The Professor" because of his serious and wise, old soul character. I can assure you though, he is a very happy and much loved child :)

Shhh, they are asleep, but if they wake up....it is all over. Either they will get a sugar high, or mom already ate them all.

Maybe this has been asked ad nauseum, but I'm so scattered tonight with all these threads I've been following.

If the parents didn't work, why did they need a babysitter? How did they afford her? Did she do it for free? Or was "babysitter" a term used in place of some other relationship to the family in order to explain her presence?

Could this "babysitter" have insinuated herself into their lives in an effort to protect the baby? Pro bono, for lack of a better term?

If this is indeed the real SB, I really do wonder if there are some psychological motives at play stemming back to the events with her daughter and step-son and this is a means to some sort of self-affirmation. I don't know. Maybe she wanted a replacement daughter. Even her MySpace cites a relationship with her nieces and how "blessed" she was to spend time with them.

I don't know. I keep going back to all that, and then I remember Shannon is a product of a bi-polar mother who may or may not have said she disposed of her. I'm confused.

O/T: Since things are so slow here right now. Is anyone following the Cleveland Serial Killer case today? Have they found any more bodies than the 10 they had found as of last night?

Up to 11 now.

I'd love to know if the Cleveland Serial Killer was anywhere in Louisiana, since getting out of the military. Up in the Jennings LA area there are a number of women killed and LE is calling it work by a serial killer and not D.T.Lee.

BREAKING UPDATES: Deputies block entrance at baby sitter's home

CHIPLEY — Authorities confirmed Wednesday they were investigating connections between a 22-year-old missing child case in South Carolina and the recent disappearance of 7-month-old Shannon Dedrick from her family's trailer near the woods.

On the fourth day of the search for Shannon, sheriff's deputies were at the home of baby sitter Susan Baker, who said Tuesday in a News Herald interview she "loved that child" and tried to have the state intervene with the family. Baker also supplied an e-mail she sent to Gov. Charlie Crist pleading that someone help Shannon, whom she said was being abused by her parents.

Washington County sheriff's investigators were working on that connection Wednesday. Around 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, two deputies from Holmes and Jackson counties were at the gate to the Bakers' property. The home was not visible, sitting down a long path and blocked by a hill.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Andrea Gainey could not confirm if deputies were descending on the home.

Does anyone else think that would be awully bold to take a child from her parents' bedroom at 9:30 am?

Just a heads up, If Washington county is doing anything like testing tire treads....etc

IT IS part of this case. Chipley only has 4k residents. How much investigating do they do.

Investigators were in briefings Wednesday morning. Gainey said Baker was one of hundreds interviewed, that the Sheriff's Office was aware of the similarities in Dedrick's disappearance and the 1987 case, and that the person of interest still was not public information.

Later Wednesday, Gainey said there were no updates and a News Herald public records request for incident reports, identifying information and a 911 recording still was pending. The News Herald requested those items Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Phillips wrote Wednesday morning on her Twitter page that she "knows the POI is the one who cared the most." Later, in a phone interview, she said she wrote that under the assumption that Baker is the person of interest.

But "Susan would not hurt a child," she said.

"That's the only reason they're putting her as a person of interest now is because of all of that crap that happened way back when," Phillips said.

"They need to start asking (the mother) where the child is," she said. "She's the one that put it somewhere."

Washington County court records show a 2004 case labeled "67-04-DR-177/FIN JUD OF MARRIAGE" between a Susan and James Baker. Court records also show a mortgage for Susan and James Baker for a piece of property at 3395 Orange Hill Road, the same address cited in the e-mail to Crist.

A sheriff's investigator in Beaufort, S.C., briefly returned a phone call on the cold case but hung up soon after, saying he was in a meeting.

Reached again later, Beaufort County Sheriff's Lt. Bob Bromage referred all questions to the state Department of Law Enforcement, which was overseeing the 1987 disappearance investigation. The FDLE was looking into the case to provide more information.

"The News Herald newspaper of Panama City reported Wednesday afternoon that sheriff's deputies had surrounded the Florida Baker's Chipley home."
http://www.clickorlando.com/news/21519621/detail.html

media reference of the house being surrounded.

Right - LE did surround the parents home. Folks were talking earlier about LE surrounding SB's home. That's not true, as far as I can tell. We do know they are looking at SB's gray van (or someone's van). It's so hard to find any tidbits on this case!

You are so right. My heart just breaks for this sweet child.

actually reading the DFS report was reassuring... the case workers mentioned that she smiled at the family members and at appropriate times. I do wish they had a smiley pic of her though. O/T but it seems like often times (not always) when kids go missing the pictures are odd in some way or outdated, as if they didn't have many to choose from or something. Just my observation.

Personally and my opinion only is that SB has brass balls and would do just about anything.
