why would the news herald say there was a update coming tonight...

Positive thoughts...maybe the FDLE crime van rolled in more recently is simply because they (FDLE) only recently took charge of the investigation??? Maybe FDLE is "double checking" local LE's work???

Interesting. I clicked "more" on SB's myspace blog? messages. Apparently a child named E**** is one of the grandnieces she is CONSTANTLY talking about babysitting and saying how this child is her blessing, that she had a good day because she had the kid with her, etc. Knwoing what I know about SB's past, her preoccupation with kids makes me feel sick.
I also found a post in which she writes: "My aunt house burn down yesterday - my neice and her family was living with her. They lost everything. My neice has a handicape 3 yr old son."
I wonder. Wonder where the niece lives? In the Huckaby case, there were a few fires around her as well. Also common with Munchausen types (although I am not saying she has Munchasuen By proxy!). Just thinking out loud.

Tab appears to be the mother of the grand nieces...she responds to SB by saying "can't wait for the break."

The niece is Tabatha (already named in media), although her MS has no mention of a house fire that I have seen.

eleph has the van left the bakers?....

There is a grey van at FLDE station being checked ... would have to find the link again ... it is assumed to be SB's van but LE has not confirmed this.

I don't want to go to bed, I'm so afraid I'm going to miss something. Hopefully tomorrow will bring some answers, or better yet, will bring little Shannon home safe. Here's to hoping. Goodnight, WS.

Assuming, just for the sake of speculation, that SB did harm or kill Shannon, what on earth would the motive have been? With the two stepchildren -- one that she was convicted of abusing, and one that she was charged in connection with the disappearance of -- she was in a situation where she had to live with them, and if she regarded them as a nuisance or a drain on her budget, etc, it would make sense from the perspective of a totally evil person to kill one and beat the other into total submission, if she imagined she could get away with it. But I don't see a comparable motive with Shannon. If she didn't like dealing with Shannon, easy, just don't go over to her home.

It just seems odd, because thinking back through various stories of child abusers and killers over the years, they generally seem to have a stable MO -- i.e. they viciously abuse children in their care to make themselves feel powerful, or they horribly neglect children because they're selfishly focusing all their time and resources on themselves (or are keeping the children under a foster care program, and are doing it just to get the checks to use for themselves), or they sexually abuse children for their own perverted gratification, or they kill children who are getting in the way of a new romantic relationship (usually women killing their own biological children), or they kill children who are not biologically their own (usually men who have moved in with a woman who has children from a prior relationship). But total changes in motive from one abuse/killing to another, by the same perpetrator? Offhand, I just can't think of an example of that. Can anyone else?

Personal Opinion Only:
I think she has so many fake Myspace friends because it feeds her ego, she knows they are fake, but she doesn't think anyone else will know.
She knows her thought processes are abnormal, but in the depth of her issues, she doesn't realize how abnormal. Or that her defenses against the world, her "proof" of her worth are transparent to the rest of us.
Now, that said, it doesn't in any way excuse her from any involvement in any of the three cases. The abused girl, Paul or Shannon. She knows her thoughts aren't right, so she could at anytime reach out for help. She doesn't want help, that makes her more evil than sick.

ITA! I admitted that I had to laugh about it, but I do feel it is serious..evil...sick...

Too much time on her hands. Has to feel important. Much easier to appear that she has lots of freinds, when she probably doesn't want to have to deal with too many people who don't do as she says. CM, Paul, Nina...and who knows who else? Deep down, could be a bit of a drama queen and control freak rolled into one. Create the drama to control a situation, and when that doesn't work....they pay the price...

All just my opinion, and just trying to figure her out.

Not trying to be sarcastic or anything but it seems that SB may have been calling herself Auntie SB to more than just relatives if this makes sense? It is like she was trying to collect family members and be a savior to all. All my opinion of course.

There is new stuff at the end of this article: http://www.newsherald.com/news/please-78782-child-chipley.html

~snip~ Baker said she had no clue where the girl could be, but she expressed a firm belief that Shannon often went ignored by her parents, who she said lived in the trailer among roaches.

Baker told of an evening she tried to make Shannon’s parents notice her turning over in her playpen — a rare feat. But “Tina and Rusty couldn’t take their eyes off the TV long enough to see their child turn over,” she said.

She spoke with the News Herald after some hesitation, claiming the Sheriff’s Office warned her not to speak to reporters — a claim the spokeswoman, Gainey, called “untrue.”

Baker eventually detailed a night two weeks ago when Mercer sat on a bed and “said she wished that Shannon would disappear because Shannon’s not Rusty’s daughter, and she wished that Shannon was gone, so she could have a baby with Rusty.”

It disturbed Baker to see Shannon’s parents so uncaring, she said. She claimed there were many times she was allowed to take Shannon away for “as long as I wanted.”

But a stranger’s abduction was impossible, she said, as the family’s door remained latch-bolted shut every day, and “there was no way in this world that anybody could get in that trailer.”

Baker, in the middle of baby-sitting other children Tuesday night, said she wants more interrogations done in the case.

“They need to pin Tina against the wall … until she tells them what she did with that baby,” Baker said.

“Instead of chasing ghosts into the bushes and stuff,” she said, “they need to focus on that.”

I had not seen all of these quotes before.... had any of you? Is this old to everyone but me?

BBM. Pretty sure that neice must be TAB; in her internet ramblings, TAB stated she had a child with "severe cerebral palsy" several times...so, if it is that neice, the presumption is she lives close - even on the same street, I belive...

pinkpuddytat, well thought out post. I have only one thought and one thought only:
In this world there are truly Evil people. They are just pure evil - plain and simple - pure evil. No motive just Evil to the core.

It could all be the same motive. Beats the female child...could be seen as a threat, we hear about mothers jealous of their own children, why not step children or the kids of the man you are sleeping with?
Paul disappears, a threat to her new life, as he was a poignant reminder of her lover's "old life".
Now Shannon, a threat to the family maybe? A biological reminder of someone doing something she saw as a betrayal? Simply a reminder that she can't get what she wants all the time (the state not taking Shannon), thus threatening her version of reality?
All speculation.
ETA: And what Elpher said: there's always the just evil option.

I'm thinking for SB it was to prove she was right. "See y'all! I've been warning you this would happen!!!"

I have to wonder if SB wasn't getting some kinda recent backlash for her antics and it was backfiring and she was being called out for her BS. Taking Shannon and making the parents look back would prove her point.

if we, the public, can see her 'friends' list, then her actual friends can see her fake friends, so wouldn't one of them have called her on it & broke her out of her fantasy world?

That's assuming she *has* actual friends. She may well have nothing but relatives and casual acquaintances who know she's a total whackjob and don't bother trying to point this out to her (or to anyone else, since anyone in a position to care would presumably be able to see it for themselves, unless they're as whacked as she is -- e.g. Tabatha, it would seem).

Salem:
Those comments are new to me (but, that's not saying much)

Also, I was finally (with help) able to get on her MS page. I can't get to any picutres. I'm not very MS Literate.
Anyway, I did notice she talks about going camping a lot. I wonder where? In woods or RV park? My mind went instanly to hiding something in those woods.
I hate to think of that.
I'd much rather think she is hiding Shannon in her spare bedroom or something and LE will carry her out tonight wrapped in a blanket as she smiles to her parents.

Almost like hoarding people?
Trying to understand, I got a new painkiller today, so I'm running on about 3 cylinders right now. LOL.

Needs to have people think she has all the answers and that they will look up to her - when they have issues she then steps in as the savior for the day. All indicative of a very low self esteem IMO.
Pass over a pill will ya?
