Inmate's confession closes Marion Co. missing person case open for nearly 30 years, deputies say

After talking with prosecutors with the State Attorney’s Office and Petersen’s family, it was decided that Crow would not face any charges if he gave detectives and prosecutors answers about Petersen’s murder, according to investigators.

Crow allegedly told investigators that he ran into Petersen at a convenience store on Christmas Eve in 1992 and that the two then went to a tavern for a few drinks before heading Lake Catherine where they continued to drink.

Deputies Crow said he killed her at the lake, dismembered her body and “disposed of her body parts in multiple lakes in the Ocala National Forest.”

Detectives said Crow told them he had premeditated intent to kill Petersen that evening because she was a “snitch.” Detectives said they think Crow killed her after he made sexual advances on her and she denied him.

I was reading and there are over 600 lakes and rivers in Ocala National Park, as well as numerous swamps....A large population of black bears, alligators and wild boars. I'm sure there are also many scavenger animals... Any body left here, especially dismembered, would disappear quickly... very quickly... the guy already confessed, he won't get out of jail unless it's in a coffin... .but why kill her? If she rejected him, her reasons would be...

Lovely news! Any likely matches/unidentified pages removed at the same time?

Only 3 female or Unsure UIDs removed this year whose identities aren't known yet, but none of them in the past month or in the area her remains have allegedly been disposed of.. I took a look at recently modified UIDs in Florida but nothing stands out to me.

I am very curious if the case is indeed resolved. Hopefully there'll be some news soon.
