A Florida woman's family is in mourning after her presumed death, which five family members learned about while in jail after being arrested while searching for her, according to multiple reports.

Sierra Hernandez, 20, was reported missing on Jan. 14, and a body believed to be hers was discovered on Jan. 19. The Polk County Sheriff's Office announced last week that they believe Hernandez was murdered, but a public information officer tells PEOPLE authorities are still awaiting confirmation of her identity through DNA.

Charges upgraded against Daphne Fernandez

He says their agency collected evidence that shows Daphne Fernandez and another suspect named Enrique Martinez took the victim’s car to the Hard Rock Casino on Jan. 9.

Surveillance footage provided by the casino allegedly shows the suspects on casino property in the victim’s car.

Knapp testified that while searching the victim’s cellphone, they discovered a nearly 20-minute call to TECO’s Customer Service line on Jan. 10.

Detectives retrieved the recorded call from TECO and learned Daphne Fernandez used the victim’s phone to call the power company to restore her electricity.

Her father was touched by the turnout that included not only friends and family but strangers all here to remember the joys of her life instead of the tragedy of her death.

“She was a very loving caring person. She would do anything for anybody. that she trusted and loved. She’d light up the room,” Sierra’s dad Shawn Hernandez said. “Very happy person.”

While she was missing, Hernandez’s father, along with four of her family members, who went searching for her were arrested for searching a property where they believed she could have been. While behind bars, her family learned of her death.

All charges against her family members have since been dropped.

“It hurts. It’s devastating to know what they did,” Hernandez said. “They took a life with no remorse here we are as a family and community having to live the consequences of this.”

Blake Sterling, who is on felony probation for an unrelated case, testified during the court appearance that he met Sierra Hernandez on Facebook. He brought her over to his friend's house on Jan. 9 on T Avenue Northwest in Winter Haven, which was owned by Fernandez.

He and Hernandez stayed the night, but the next day, Sterling had to leave to see his family. Meanwhile, Sierra stayed behind, because she was sick.

"While I was gone, I didn't text her, but she texted me flipping out about her car," Sterling said during the hearing. "By the time I had seen her message, I ended up coming back."

Once Sterling returned to the home, he saw Hernandez tied up in a room and Enrique Martinez, who was going by the name "Jesse."

She is now charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in the Sierra Hernandez case instead of attempted felony murder. The new charges stem from the state attorney's investigation into the case and the collection of the interviews with the witnesses following the arrest of the suspected killer, Enrique Martinez.
