"Family members said Barkowski depends on medication that she had left where she was staying."

As a Florida native into my adult years I hate hearing she went to the beach alone.
Even in the 80's there were some creepers..
I do hope they know her route to and from the beach and have checked it.

Does not sound good...

German citizen who was visiting her family in south Lee County and had been reported missing since Friday morning has apparently been found dead.
