no. I would not think there are alligators in this neighborhood. could be wrong, but I do not think there are any

I'm glad to hear that. Just human predators :sheesh:

I checked the white pages, a thompson on Debarry, one on Gano. but none listed on Horton....then again, her parents may have diff names....

Has anyone said how hard she hit the other kid? Just wondering if maybe she thinks she's in really bad trouble now and is hiding out somewhere, afraid. All the LE searching might freak her out, thinking they are after her.

idk, jg

People are still searching according to a blogger on news4jax. She lives in Grove Park and can still hear searchers calling Somer's name.

There is a comment on the news4jax.com site:

that there was another attempted abduction in the same area yesterday and that the License plate # was turned over to police. Sais also no report in media on it.

From the comments on the news sites it does sound like this community has come together to search for this little girl.

that's promising...

let's hope they actually ran the plates on that vehicle from the other day & didn't just ignore it.

When I was in grammer school (5th grade), My younger brother and I rode the bus home from school, and we were home alone together until my father got off from work. Granted, we got home about 3:30 and he was usually home no later than 4, but this was a common occurance in the neighborhood we lived in. Everyone knew everyone, the neighbors knew which kids got off at what stop, and if one of us wasnt home to call the pparents by the alloted time, then EVERYONE got a call asking if we knew which stop so-and-so got off at or whos house they went to w/o asking. it is sad that today this is no longer a practice.

In middle school and high school, we had to walk all the way home because we lived less than a mile from both schools. We also had to cross a very busy 4 lane road ( there is a community college about 1/4 mile from the middle and high school, soyou can imagine the traffic.) We had crossing guards at the main intersection before and after schools, who knew should and shou.ldn't be crossing there after school. I would think that this would alos be true in this situation, since it seems that this is something akin to a neighborhood school. The neighborhood I lived in a few years ago had a elementary school at one end, most all of the kids in the neighborhood had to walk because of the proximity rules, and there were multiple crossing guards all throughout the neighborhood.

Then again, it was over 20 years ago since I was in grammer school... I would hope that things were still the same.

The bus rule totally blows my mind... I have never heard of that before...

Here, children in elementary school can get permission from their parents to walk home if they live near the school, other than that, they are either picked up in vans/buses from daycare centers, picked up by parents, stay at the school in afterschool programs/daycare or they are brought home on a bus.

That bus rule needs to be revamped... IMO... It doesn't matter where you live anymore...there is meanness and evil all around us these days.

Sadly the almighty $ is more important than safety. The schools are having a hard time staying in budget, and transportation is one area that is taking a hit. After school started there were several news reports about parents complaining that their kids were being dropped off at the end of a road to walk home. the districts are trying to save gas which in turn saves money.

I been listening to Putman county and I have not hear anything about Somer.
It bother me because they don't spread into other county. If someone did pick her up they be out clay county now. Look like Putman is the next county over ans St.John and Duval that border Clay county.

And if they got that LP there should a BOLO for it and all surround county.

i copied this from the comments at newsjax4, very comforting

''''''''My son and two girls just stopped by for our dog (100lb blue tick hound) they are going back out to search! I too am very happy about the community bonding together and coming together to look for this little girl! However I am saddened and heartbroken that this child is/maybe going through something terrible/ if anything she is cold and hungry and probably tired!'''''''''''''

Having had my daughter be attempted to be taken right out of my arms eleven years ago in a Walgreen's parking lot in Atlantic Beach, Jax FL. Luckily I was strong enough to get away with my daughter who at the time was only a few weeks old. After reporting it to the police I was made aware of the under cover investigation going on in Jacksonville for child trafficking through the ports. Anywhere there are ports will always have an increase danger for child trafficking, because Jacksonville does have a large port we are at higher risk.

Anyone know for sure whether or not an Amber Alert, or something similar, has gone out yet?

Just thinking about this being a possibility makes me feel sick.

I want this little girl found safe, and NOW!
