Isn't it sad! We shouldn't have to look up how many sex offenders there are...they should NEVER EVER be let out of jail in first place.
My children are grown so I don't have any in schools but every day when the school bus comes thru in the afternoon, I try to be out walking my dog. I hope that will let someone know there is a adult out so dont mess with the kids.
You know my grand children live in Germany. There really are no school buses. Kids either walk or walk to the bus stop & take the city bus. However, in the villages most everyone walks. You see people out all day with their small baskets walking to the neighborhood market or bake shop. All day people are out, walking babies, walking dogs, so you have a lot of people around. If we are home, we need to come out of our houses & be visable when the children are out.
We do have buses but the parents are out all over our neighborhood during school coming and goings. The crosswalks at all the stop signs are manned. If there was an attempted abducting I cannot imagine how many parents/grandparents would be out in addition to the regulars. Very easy to take for granted where you live, even those there is no place that is immune from this kind of thing.
Knock on wood there have been no missing kids in our area. One teen that is suspected of running off on her own. But we have the added benefit of not being an easy area to get out of quickly. Ferry on one end, one way out on the other end. My actual neighborhood is a deadend and can only get out via one fourway stop. If that is blocked you are F'ed. Probably doesn't appeal much to a snatch and flee.
