Doesn't make sense that Kallem is a suspect in the murder of Somer.

Certainly he didn't drive all the way to Orange Park to look for a child - lots of children leaving schools on his way there...was he in the area for another reason?

His preference is little boys and unless he decompensates from exhaustion or was completely desperate, not likely he would change his mo and entice a little girl.

Attempting to entice two elementary school children (boys) into his van, is far different then crossing the road into murder - why would he change his mo? Desperate? Or is this man so sick he becomes disorganized and goes for any child under any circumstance? This sounds extreme! It doesn't make sense with what we know. mho

K. Rose was supposed to get 3 years in jail for each count, but served it consecutively- not sure if he stayed the whole time. Required to turn 2 blood samples over to FDLE for their DNA database.

Here's my question- I've only looked at Clay/Duval county records, but if the state requires sex offenders who are convicted in the county to turn over blood samples to FDLE (and not the county), is this a state requirement - where every FL county requires it?

And if it is, LE would have DNA from every sex offender who committed the initial crime in FL. If there was DNA on Somer, wouldn't they just run it against every RSO living/working in her area? How long would that take?

You would hope by now, but I guess in the real world it is not like CSI Miami.

I have never smiled reading a sex abuse plea, but the conditions were changed from:

"I will submit to such electronic monitoring as may be deemed necessary..." to

"I will submit to mandatory electronic monitoring per the Jessica Lunsford Act."

Hopefully these new laws actually work, but its nice seeing something productive coming out of a tragedy.

I have no idea if K. Rose is the Kyle from 1080 Gano OR a Kyle who called into the Orlando Station. Just that this guy is a RSO who lives close to where this happened, and he has a charge for child .

Per map Horton Dr is just outside of city limits so trash would be picked up by ADVANCED DISPOSAL CORPORATE OFFICE.

I am a first time poster, i've been reading here many years but just joined. With the soot on somer that was mentioned on NG last nite, i was wondering about a costodian worker at the park. I know the parks here have them..where they clean grills and fire pits....they wear uniforms and drive trucks....maybe she went over to park to wait on brother and sister..and was approached by a worker there...in uniform with his truck there...no one would notice that..and he could have put her in the truck and left. Probably le has checked this..but just wondering.

Welcome I posted something similar last night. I was trying to think of someone who could easily snatch Somer and move the body without being noticed...someone with a cart, a wagon. I also mentioned perhaps a groundskeeper at the park or in that immediate area. I was wondering if they have nite groundskeepers at the park. It would seem that her body would have been moved more likely after dark.

I remember at one presser the sheriff said the case was complicated and I thought it was strange he said that. I wonder if the perps DNA was really mixed with Somers DNA or something like lots of blood mix and it was going to take time to sort that out in the labs.

I remember us talking about him, I thought he looked like SP initially. KR is 5'10" 140 according to his registration, do you think it could be the guy you saw? He's not supposed to have any contact with minors...he shouldn't have been at that memorial (if it was him).

He looks to me like the guy that walks out with Diena to talk to the media, and stands with the gma, til the gpa walks up, then he just kinda backs off....seems the gpa gives him an odd look if I remember correctly....but it just may be some of her family, and not this guy at all....

Hi lawlady...I do not know how to bold within your post that I quoted, but I offer a lil something re: DNA collection and when it is required and by whom.

In my state, Every person convicted and sentenced to the Dept. of Corrections has their specimen collected for DNA upon arrival at the prison. If the State has record of it on subsequent convictions, it is not re-collected. This all happens at the State level.

I remember that guy in the video being discussed. He kind of looked like SP but as I recall, someone came to the conclusion that he might be a brother of DT. He mouths something like "no" on the video...in response to a question posed to DT by a reporter.

Possession of child makes me even more nervous than some of the violent crimes- this guy is sexually attracted to children. How long til he acts on it?

If LE states that they have ruled out SO's does this actually mean that it is not a sexually motivated crime or...does it mean that the person who did this is not registered as a SO , in others new to this scene.

Usually DNA collection is determined state by state, so more than likely there will be some on file from every county.
Here is where it gets tricky, they will have DNA on file for every RSO unless, the sample has been lost, or the sample has degraded and the person is off parole and probation and can't be found or they were convicted before the laws regarding DNA collection were passed, or they didn't commit a crime that was considered worthy of a DNA submission, since not all sex offenses are.

They could run DNA on every convicted everything, if they wanted to and would find a judge willing to put his signature to something that costly and desperate. How long would it take to test them all? Months, if not years. I think it was 5 years between Paul Bernardo giving DNA and the match being made to his rape victim. They collected so many samples that they just didn't have time to run them all without letting other cases go unsolved. I could be wrong on the length of time, so I have to go check on that. If I'm wrong, I'll edit.
Scuse me, he gave DNA in 11/90 and it came back as him in 2/93, so I was wrong on the length of time.
