Attempted abductions
WPTV.com] 10/26/2009, Indian River County, FL -- "The Indian River County Sheriff's Office is looking into a report of an attempted abduction at a county charter school. The incident happened Monday at a church that's being used as a satellite campus for the Imagine School."
"A female student reported someone covered her eyes and grabbed her arm in the hallway outside the pastor's office. The girl bit the person and ran back to class. The school principal sent out an e-mail to fifth and sixth grade parents last night outlining this incident."
"'The steps we took were appropriate,' said principal Joe Mills. 'We investigated this for hours. We talked with the parent and the process was good.'"
"The principal emphasized that student safety is paramount. Sheriff's deputies were seen patrolling both the satellite campus, and the main campus Tuesday. As of now, there's no person of interest in the case. The investigation continues."

9/23/2009, DeLand, FL -- " A masked man tried tokidnap a 9-year-old girl as she walked home from her school bus stop but was scared away by a passing car, police said."
"Police said the child was walking from a bus stop at 2:04 p.m. Wednesday when the man grabbed her by the hair at the corner of Hubbard and Clara avenues."
"The child screamed when the man grabbed her ponytail braids and started dragging her backward, Massey said. A car drove by and scared the man, and he let go of the girl."
"The child was running home crying when a Police Athletic League worker saw her and took her home, Massey said."
"The girl told police the man wore a mask and she could only see that he had a white beard, DeLand police spokesman Sgt. John Anderson said. The suspect wore a blue T-shirt and was about 6 feet tall, police said. The child told police the man grabbed her as she walked by a couch and some chairs in front of a vacant lot."
"Officers with a police dogsearched the area where some children saw the man running, but wereunable to locate the would-be kidnapper."
