"MR, 17, who has babysat Somer in the past said that she was head strong and contradicted the mother by saying that it was not anything new for Somer to run ahead of her siblings on the way home from school and that she would take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour to make her way home; and that her mother had a list of phones numbers for her friends and would start calling the friends if she took too long to get home. The baby sitter said she never knew where Somer ran to, but she loved tree houses and swimming pools. Many times Somer would get upset as she felt the other kids picked on her and she would run away."

uggh! My computer is not cooperating on the entire issue of pulling up maps, so I'll go back to that later.

Sorrell Skye ... I don't think they searched many of the garbage cans/dumpsters on Monday only because the man credited with the idea of searching trash didn't come up with the idea until Tuesday.

Searchers may have checked dumpsters/garbage cans but I don't think there was an organized search of the dumpsters/cans by LE. I thought I had seen that some had been checked but they realized they would not be able to get through them all but that might have been connected to Bruce Owens ...

Searching trash is protocol in missing or abducted children cases. There is a specific protocol developed by NCMEC, Amber Alert and Office of Juvenile Justice.

It's worth reading.:)

I think those tanks would be a perfect place for a little girl to hide until siblings were gone then come out and go where I chose.
I think that's probably what she did. MOO

If you press Ctrl + plus sign it will zoom too (and then use Ctrl and - to go back).

I could not see any slide either. Is that the Gano house? I zoomed to 400 percent.

The comment about J. leaving her mom's house was in the last thread but might have been deleted. I don't remember the details that were posted with it and whether it included names.

Given that, and the fact that she ran ahead, perhaps she DID go into the home of someone else the family knows. Could be someone in or next door to one of those homes. I'm sure the police went down that list of people the mother would call looking for her.

One of the biggest problems is that we focus so much on telling kids about strangers, and we don't let them know that people you know can hurt you too.

(red bolding mine)

Assuming all of this is true, I'm wondering if it was only her belief the other kids were picking on her or if they really were, and specifically what other kids? Her siblings or other classmates? Also, if this is true, I could see her stopping by the burned house, maybe playing or chatting with the workers. MOO

they would be, I agree. Did you read Shutterfly's scenario of little Somer gone missing? It was great and from the mind of a child.

Pretty sure a poster on a thread or two ago said the tanks were fenced in so people couldn't get to them. That may be the case.

Extend search to surrounding areas including vehicles and other places of concealment.

Contact landfill management and request they segregate garbage and dumping containers from key investigative areas

And for whoever was asking why they began looking at RSOs:

Review sex-offender registries to determine if individuals designated as sexual predators live, work, or might otherwise be associated with the area of the child’s disappearance.

Putting the account in SP's name is very strange.

If they need to connect the account to a specific person - why not mom?

Or how bout Grandma - she seems like a nice lady.

Do they not know that the public has questions about this guy? They have to.

Even if they don't have any doubts about him and trust him completely - they should think about how the people making the donations might feel.
I'm thinking this is a(nother) bad decision.
But also-what about tax purposes? If it's not a separate account, they'll be liable for taxes. That, in itself is enough to get it a separate account. I realize that someone has to be accountable, but the "In the memory of Somer" should be the first name showing on the acct.

Even with the fencing around them, I could still see her running into that area and hiding until the other kids passed by. MOO

Is that picture of the slide recent? I mean not from Google maps or something.

Is it covered in soot?

So many Qs and have to run out for a bit ... bbl
